A: no it will not, trim rings are way different
Q: VW GTI Bumper?
I recently had a accident with my 2007 VW Rabbit. I need to get the whole front bumper replaced and I was wondering if the GTI MK V bumper would fit on my Rabbit instead of getting the Rabbit bumper because they are almost the same in price.
A: yep, it sure will.
Q: V-DUB Rabbit, GTI Leasing?
i have a 07 VW Rabbit leased for a 4 year agreement and it only has 4000 miles on it and ive had for almost 4 months, it is a very good and reliable car, i looked at the 07 GTI and it looks alot sportier and faster, my question is if i have the 4 year deal on the rabbit will the VW dealer be able to continue the 4 year deal but change my rabbit with a GTI, i know there will be a fine to pay but does anyone know, or how much i have to pay to do this?
A: Of course you can... as long as you're willing to pay for it.
Naturally this all depends on the provisions of your lease, but in most cases, when you surrender or terminate a lease, the full amount of the contract becomes immediately due. The car itself maintains a certain amount of value. BUT, the moment you drive the car off of the lot, it loses anywhere from 10 to 25% of its value. That said, with only 4 months of payments put in, and 4000 miles of wear already put on the car, you've depreciated the value of the car considerably and you haven't even dented the principal value of the lease. In other words, you made the car old in their eyes, and you haven't even begun to pay for it.
So...
Yes, you can turn in the lease and trade for a new one (given your contract allows you to do so), but you will pay a disgusting amount of dollars so you can have a sportier and faster looking car. Given that you're one of the lucky owners to get a good and reliable VW (i've owned two and haven't been as lucky), keep the Rabbit for a while longer. It is not worth the loss you're going to take on it.
If you have some other tools of persuasion that I don't know about, you may want to stop by your local VW dealer and try conning them into trading out cars. If you can somehow convince them to do it on reasonable (to you) terms then go for it. Just remember that the dealer will not be able to resell the car for greater than depreciated value so you will get less than that minus any markup they want and reconditioning costs. You're gonna get robbed.
Good luck!
Q: Will the MKV GTI(Volkswagon) front end fit on the MKV Rabbit(VW)?
I have to get my grill/bumper/fender/hood/ fixed anyway and i love the GTI structure
A: good question, it probably should, but if not then the body shop should be able to modify to fit.
Q: Advice on buying/leasing a Volkswagon Golf/GTI/Rabbit?
I am looking for some advice on VW's, the gas mileage and pros and cons of owning this type of vechicle,
I have heard good and bad things about reliablity and cost, looking more specifically into a GTI or Golf,(i ahve never had this type if car)
How is the insurance compared to other sports coupes.
Any long-term issues with these cars.
I am looking to trade in a Ford Mustang(due to gas milieage) for a VW, would this be a wise move?
Also, I have been looking for used 2002-2006 foreover, but they are hard to find, only the newer models are out, but am trying to find used under 15k, is this realistic.
Any owners of VW GTI or GOLF/Rabbits , I need help
Thanks
A: I see a good number of VWs on http://www.carmax.com. Reliability remains an issue.
Q: 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit; Clutch replacement difficulty?
How hard is it to remove and install a new clutch kit on my 1984 VW Rabbit GTI? (manual transmission)
A: If you got a floor jack(tranny jack on wheels) not a biggy.(you are gonna have to remove the engine transmission from the car, seperate it on the floor, swap the clutch and reassemble it on floor. Best to get a repair manual that will take you thru the steps rather than repeating them here. One person can do it with 3 jacks, and some wrenches and screwdrivers.
Q: Subaru Impreza or VW Rabbit?
I am going to buy a new car in the next couple of months. I am trying to do some research on Subaru Impreza's and VW Rabbit's. My wife and I are going to be starting a family soon. So, I need something roomy. However, I want something sporty and that can push you back in your seat. I've been researching these two cars. I would prefer the GTI, but VW doesn't make a four-door. The Impreza is the popular among everyone on Yahoo Answers, but maintaince and insurance are an issue.
Basically, I'm looking to spend no more that $20,000 and I'm never gonna buy a "new" car. Advice? Also, any help websites?
A: I'd go with the Subaru. Here's why:
-It snows here in the winter. The VW would be okay with snow tires but I prefer AWD.
-In my experience Subarus tend to hold together better. The VWs I've driven had problems with electrical bits, interior parts, and other annoyances that my Subies just didn't have.
-Subarus tend to hold their value better. This is partly because of the old VW marketing strategy, they were offering riciculously cheap 2-year leases on Jettas and Golfs for the longest time. The resale market of VWs is still reeling.
I do like the handling of the VW. They make a very 'tight' new-car. I am concerned about their long-term reliability.
I like the "base" impreza, but if you can afford the WRX wagon I'd go for that. Resale value is much better and it's a much more FUN car. Maintenance cost isn't that bad...the cars don't need much other than regular oil changes, etc. They do want premium gas, not sure about the VW. Still MUCH cheaper over the long run than any SUV.
But hey! I'm not going to be driving it. Drive them both and make your own choice!
Q: Which is better: VW GTI 3-door or 5-door?
I plan on buying a GTI or rabbit as my first car in a few years (off lease) and I am trying to decide whether I should buy a coupe or sedan version... If it helps when your deciding: I will purchase the car with the autobaughn package (sunroof, blk leather, etc.) The car will most definately black also and will be used by be for about 7 years after: long term thinking... There is also a chance I will buy the new instead of the current gen. I need a hatchback because of the stuff I will carry and on road trips I will fold down the back seat to make my bed. Please help!
A: 5 door is better for road trips. Passengers and storage would make the 5 door better.
I prefer the 3 door, but it sounds like the 5 will do a better job at doing what you need it for.
Q: Do you like your Honda Fit car?
I am thinking of getting a new car and I have my eye on a Honda Fit. If you have this car please let me know if you like it or not or if you have a suggestion for a different car, why? I am looking for something economical and affordable...and as of now i have been looking at cars simliar to the Fit like the Toyota Matrix, Scion Xa, Nissian Versa and the VW GTI, Rabbit or Golf.
A: go with the vw... Honda's are over priced
Q: VW Golf & Rabbit - Good first car? (mk Iv+)?
A friend of mine bought a 2001 Golf GTi, and he has had nothing but problems with it, however I have personally enjoyed VW since I was eight, but I do not want a car that will break down on me once a month. so are Mk IV Golf's Reliable? What about MK V Golf/Rabbits?
I live in MI so I want a car that has FWD.
A: Had a golf. Was rearended by a Ford Explorer doing 55 mph. The damage never reached into the passenger compartment, with exception to the flying glass.
I liked the car, but I bought a Cadillac after that. I wanted to have more metal between me and somebody hitting my car. There was not much trade-off in gas mileage. I average 31 mpg highway and 24 mpg city. In fact my foot gets better gas mileage than the cruise control. In fact I get 3 mpg better than the cruise control, having my foot on the accelerator.
The reason I liked the Golf was for a car its size it had great suspension and handling.
Q: 1.8T in '83 GTI?
Is it possible to put (easily) the 180hp 1.8T VW engine into an '83 Rabbit GTI? If not, what more modern engines could be put in it?
Also, I forgot to add, what about the swapping in the new 2.0 turbo in the MkV GTI?
A: The basic motor mount locations are the same. There's lots of examples of this swap online in both rabbits and sciroccos (same principle).
Still though, lots of work I'm sure with wiring and some fabrication for intercooler, etc.... Probably the coolest VW swap ever.
When I was younger I would have never imagined how far guys would go with the cars- In the 90's I had a rabbit with a 16V in it which I remember being really quick, but sometimes you remember cars being faster than they really were. I put it in with 16V scirocco parts and even put the scirocco brakes on it. Was lot's of fun and as reliable as any VW was.
Q: Are all VW's stick shift?
I really want a volkswagen for my first car, I like the rabbit, gti, basically all of the vw's. But I was wondering if all of them are stick shift? I heard they were
A: No, you can get automatic transmissions in the VW models you mentioned, but why would you want to? Manual transmissions are more fuel efficient if driven properly and give you more control in the winter driving conditions you may find in the northern US and all of Canada
Q: im buying a car?
Im buying a car and ive been looking at the VW GtI, rabbit the scions toyota matrix and ive also been looking the jeeps. Im just looking to hear people who own these car and why they like them...im also wondering how these cars are in snow
thanks
none of these answers have been helpful so please give me something else
A: Snow tires help you stop and steer in winter driving conditions, so the cars you listed are front wheel drive and will do well in snow. I think the Matrix can be had with all wheel drive, jeeps are not too great, too short a wheelbase, high center of gravity and lack stability control.
Q: What is the fastest VW compact?
Golf GTI? Rabbit? Jetta VR6?
A: My 07' GTI does 13.58 in the 1/4 mile and corners like its on rails. It has a chip and intake modifications that took 15 minutes and $400 to install. It's a very, very fun car to drive and still gets 28 mpg! I recently drove one with the DSG automatic and actually think it can shift itself better than I can!!
