Q: Good places to get a used car loan?
I am looking to buy a used VW Rabbit and need to finance it no more the 15,000. I went to a dealer and found a perfect car for me I loved it. Then the told me that my APR would be 24%! Thats crazy I dont have bad credit its fair. So I found the same car at a different place. But they dont do financing out of state.... Please give me some names of some good banks that wont try and charge me crazy rates. They told me it was so high because banks are being really hard on giving loans right now with things being the way they are.

A: Unfortunately, due to the current economic climate, you are going to have to have excellent credit (FICO >700 to 720) to get a good rate on a car loan. You can try applying at places like Americredit or Capital One to see if you can get something lower. Otherwise, if you really need the car, you'll have to resign yourself to the fact that you will have to pay the high interest rate and after a year or so, shop around for refinancing. If you've been good about making your car payments and other payments that reflect on your credit report, there's a good chance you'll qualify somewhere for a reduced rate.

Q: Jump starting another car with a 2008 VW Rabbit.?
I'm trying to jump start an old bonneville with my rabbit, and I have jumped many, many cars before, and I have never had a problem with it, but no matter how long I let it charge, it just never seems to work. This is my first time using my new rabbit to try to jump another car, is there something about the rabbit's battery configuration that will not allow me to do it?

A: From what I remember having read in the manual, you need to connect one cable to the Rabbit's +ve terminal and the other to the car ground, and not the -ve terminal. I'd recommend that you take a look at the manual, there is a section on jump starting another car from your Rabbit.

Q: VW Rabbit Golf 1991/1993 or Suzuki Jimny 1998?
In the market for either of these used cars. Which would be the better decision, and why? I'm worried about the soft-top on the VW, but equally about the Jimny being cheaply made and so that it will break down. Please help! Thanks very much, Harriet

A: Even though older the VW is a much better built and more reliable car. It should also retain more value. Just look on the road, plenty of older VWs -- but Suzukis? They don't last long enough to get old. The "suzi" is usually mechanically OK but poor quality in other aspects.

Q: VW Touch-up paint question - 2 sticks, 1 paint, 1 clear coat?
I ordered some touch-up paint for my wife's '08 VW Rabbit at the dealer the other day and they gave me a stick of paint and a stick of clearcoat. Are you supposed to use the clearcoat over top of the touch-up paint after it dries, or is the stick of clearcoat for something else entirely? I've never had a dealer give me a stick of clearcoat with the touch-up paint before....??

A: Use the paint to touch up the spot and let it dry. Then put the clearcoat over the spot.

Q: 2007 Rabbit Mileage?
I just bought a 2007 VW Rabbit and I just wanted to know if anyone know the estimated mileage. I use to drive a 1992 Grand-Marquis and that was a big fuel guzzler because it was a 8cyl. The Rabbit has a 55L tank compared to the 70L tank the mercury has but I think that it has about the same gas mileage. I use to do about 500-600KM combined city and hwy with the Mercury but im not sure about the Rabbit. I havent used up the tank yet so if anyone can tell give me their opinion I would appreciate it.

A: 22 mpg city - 30 mpg hwy = 9.2 kml city - 12.6 kml hwy thats between 506 km to 693 km on a tank.

Q: How to keep the new car smell?
Ok, have a car now 89 ford escort gt, very fun car, time to move on though. Probally trade in at 3-4$k Wanting either, a new VW Rabbit, or a jeep or pickup used. If I get the new rabbit, have a new job at falcon field az. If I do get one, in a year will the smell start going away? And what can I do for my current car? Some techs. Put oil vent thing on dash in summer. Pretty good idea. How bout new car smell? Planning on keeping it for 4 years? Perhaps more if car still running strong.. How to regain new car smell?

A: haha, the air freshners work, but not for a long time. what you would have to wanna do is to have the carpeting in the car professionally shampooed. after time, dirt builds up in the carpet and after so much vaccuming, dirt is still there, but shampooing the carpet will get it looking new and keep the car smelling almost as if it was brand new.

Q: What product can i use to connect my ipod to my car?
I drive a '07 VW Rabbit, and it has support for Ipod use. There is an auxiliary input to it, but i cant seem to find any product that works with it. I specifically need one that lets u control the ipod through your car's stereo...yes its possible.

A: Go to the VW dealership, they have the Spcial cord to handle your Ipod ! Dont buy any cheap aftermarket stuff, it will just give you problems, and will not always work properly ! Do it the right way and you will only have to do it once !

Q: New or used? Cant decide?
I cant decide between buying a used or new car. I'm a college student, in my 20's, with a decent job. Right now I have about 5k in my savings right now and was planning on spending about 6... either as a down payment or outright buying a vehicle. The new cars I like are the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, VW Rabbit, and Scion xA. I love the liftback style, affordability (all total around 15k), and gas milage. I'm skeptical about buying used though. I know I want something fromm 2000 or later, preferably with low miles and my style of car. I know honda has a high resale, but any other opinions on the cars listed? What would you recommend thats not too expensive and has good milage? I particularly dont want to be driving a civic or camary Thanks Thanks for all the answers! I'm pretty sure I'll go used. Big question then is, buy from a used car lot or an individual?!

A: Buying from a private party would be a lot cheaper than buying from a dealer. But you will have to know how to look at the car and make sure it has not been into any accidents especially in the front of the car where the engine is. Best thing to do is bring someone who knows how to look at the engine and also knows how to look at the exterior to see if it has been into any accidents. What you also need to do is get the cars vin number and look that number up on carfax.com. It will give you all the info on that car. And alll the parts on the cars like doors have the vin number right on it. So if one door has a different number than the other doors you know that it has been fixed or has been into an accident and needed a new door. Hope this helps.

Q: Which of these cars is better suite for me?
I've been looking for a used car under 15k with low mileage, i like 2 door hatchbacks and coupes. I'm more on driving a fun, luxurious car. My last car was a 08 bmw 328i coupe, i really loved the tiptronic engine, i drive automatic. I'm having to downsize, so far i've looked at kbb and found Acura RSX, VW Rabbit, GTI, G35, 350Z. I'm not looking for the fastest car just something fun to drive, if that makes sense. Thanks all!

A: yeah the automatic base rsx is slow and no fun, look great, but the type-s is the only rsx worth driving. I would say go with either the g35 or the GTI. g35's look better and are more luxurious than the 350z, and the rabbits aren't any fun either.

Q: Can a geo metro fit inside a Ford Excursion?
Me and my friends are trying to give a birthday present to one of our best friend. He's turning 20 this few weeks and he always wanted an economy car (small car that use less gas). He's been driving his parent's Ford Excursion for a while and it sucks a lot of gas. He's been dreaming of getting a nice Toyota Yaris hatchback or vw rabbit. But we can't really afford to get that so we got him a nice spunky, yellow Geo Metro hatchback. Our goal is to fit the geo metro in the back of his ford excursion. Will that fit????

A: No it will not fit, you pumkinsquirt! What are you thinking??
