Q: 2002 VW PASSAT What Do I Need Parts Do I Need For 86k Service.?
What to Carry Out Full Service On My 2002 VW PASSAT What Do I Need ? What parts need replacing for a full service ? whats the best oil for this car? mac20586@hotmail.com its got 86000miles on the clock just now

A: What engine is in this car? assuming 1.8 or 2.8 Gasoline VW has the interval at 80,000 miles, and the recommendation is Spark plugs, Oil change, air filter, fuel filter, (Cabin filter if equipped), tire rotation and balance, Brake fluid flush, can of injector cleaner, fault code scan, and a full vehicle inspection. then at 90-105,000 miles (depending on who you ask, and which engine) VW recommends timing belt, water pump thermostat, and coolant flush. Let me know if you need further assistance

Q: i have a 98 VW passat and i need ideas for parts?
for my 16 bday i need to know where i should get a good quality exhaust system or anything else to either make it look better or better performance. ( im not rich so i have like $ 800 max )

A: If you're going to go with a bolt on exhaust system I would recommend a eurosport cat-back system. I have that on my MKII Jetta and it's great! it's gota good deep tone, without being TOO loud and obnoxious! For other parts I would recommend the following sites: www.parts4vws.com www.germanautoparts.com www.parts.ask-knappy.com Also check out the classified section of the vortex (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeromain?id=87) Good luck and happy birthday!

Q: where can i find parts for my 95 VW Passat.?
im looking for replacement part for it like the whole dashboard as well as the control panel.

A: junkyard or auto salvage place, they have a hotline and can find your part, good luck

Q: Should I get a 2000 VW Passat 2.0t or a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
Hey. I'm having trouble deciding which of the two to get. They have about the same mileage (150k) and same cost but the Passat is an Automatic. This is the main reason I'm leaning towards the Eclipse. I believe that sticks are much more fun to drive but both cars have some small negative things to point out. The eclipse will need to have the... I'm not sure what it's called but It's the spedometer/odometer/tachometer face plate thing, changed. It'll cost about $100. And for the Passat, I will need to buy a new tire, because it's running on a spare right now. Please tell me some good and negative things about both cars to help me decide. Thanks! *** ALSO. I've heard some things about the Eclipse's turning radious being terrible, and that VW parts are pricey. I haven't really looked into it but please tell me if those are things to watch out for before buying.

A: Mitsubishi is probably the worst Japanese brand when it comes to reliability as the Eclipse engines are hit or miss with reliability. Otherwise they're good sporty cars. Passats are nice too. German Volkswagen/Audi make very, very strong engines. However, they have electrical problems up the wazoo. You will definitely be paying more in ownership costs with the Passat. Considering the mileage, I would probably go with the Eclipse. It will still be the cheaper vehicle.

Q: 2003 Volkswagen Passat Parts?
My girlfriend just bought an 03 Passat wagon, but it's missing some parts. The roof rack is missing a cap that goes on the end and inside it's missing a cover piece that goes over the console in the rear. Does anyone know if VW sells theses types of parts? Or where could I find them?

A: yes they will, but check a wrecker first

Q: vw passat 96 wont' pass the smog test because the factory stereo?
I been having problems with this 96 vw passat, I can't get it to pass the smog test, I already replace the 3 parts the guy from the smog place told me and nothing, oxygen sensor Heater, Catalyst, Second air filter and nothing, couple of guys mention something kind of crazy they said because the car has an aftermarket stereo, I'm goin to be able to pass the smog test, I need any info about my case, is really driving me crazy, Thank You for any help you guys can spare.

A: He didn't mention EGR? Take it to a dealership, and tell them the problem, and possibly show them paperwork on what the car is failing on. I highly doubt it can be a radio causing that. Like fish talking to us, and telling us to finger them...Stupid ain't it?

Q: 2002 VW Passat 1.8T, how much does it cost to buy an head light bulb.?
which is the best head light low beam bulb for 02 VW Passat 1.8T. When i went to autozone i was told each bulb costs $137.00. Is that right? Can anyone suggest and knowledge me on this spare part?

A: it matters what kind of headlights you have, a regular halogen bulb should be no more than $20. but if you have high intensity discharge bulbs which usually gives off a blueish color... they can be up to $200, are found on higher model passats.

Q: Any info on lowering my VW Passat?
Do you recommend springs, shocks, any other parts? Where should I buy these parts? Where should I take my car to get it done?

A: I suggest an H&R cupkit( it is a matched spring and shock absorber set). If your shocks are still good, get an H&R sport spring. Why do I recommend H&R? These people dont just build and engineer, they race! If your going to replace your shocks, Bilstiens are the way to go...nothing comes close.

Q: looking for vw passat 2---4 yrs old which part of the country is the cheapish and of good value?

A: Man bad timing if this would have been about 4 months ago I could have hooked u up. I live in Kentucky, and about 4 months ago there was a 2002 Passat VR6 5-speed for 5 grand. It had low Miles and was in great condition. SO SORRY DUDE!!

Q: 1994 vw passat?
I just got a 1994 vw passat vr6 with abs. The abs is not working properly. Any ideas on how to fix it? Checked with auto part stores and they don't carry a brake master cylinder with abs for this car.

A: I have never heard of a master cylinder tripping an abs code either. I would take the vehicle to a reputable repair facility and have the abs system scanned. Most shops do this for an hours labor so average of 100 bucks to figure out what's going on, money well spent.

Q: Cv Joint & Cv Boot VW Passat?
One of the Cv boots of my Passat 2004 is broken. The dealer said the Cv boot is not cover by the power train warranty because only the Cv joint is cover; so how could it be possible the Cv boot is not considered an essential part of the Cv Joint? Which VW office can help me clarify this? Who should i contact to? Does any one how to deal with this issue to force dealer to replace the Cv boot? thanks for your comments.

A: I agree it is stupid. They want the axle to break, so it can be covered. lets see here, that axle will only break when in motion, you driving the car, potential accident. So they are going to pay for a tow bill, and an axle. They did the same thing to my friend, his car had a small oil leak, they said that it's not covered but if the transmission goes out they will cover it.

Q: timing belt on a 98 vw passat?
i was quoted $842.91 for the job. that included water pump and the seals plus labor and parts. They are not a certified vw shop, just a local service shop and they are offering a 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty on the job. does this sound like a good idea? the certified shop i called quoted $1400 for the same job. suggestions please! i'm looking at you 'a car nut'

A: 1.Sounds like they gave you a complete estimate, since you know exactly what it includes. 2. It also sounds like they estimated a complete job, including the water pump and such. (Meaning it seems like they are knowledgeable about what a complete job is to avoid having the customer come back for something that could have been completed at the same time, saving the customer money on doing basically the same job again.) So those two things alone makes them sound like a pretty good shop to me and they know what they are doing...The only thing I would check about are the parts they are using, are they vw parts or cheaper aftermarket parts? 12/12 is pretty much a standard warranty at most shops, although some do warranty things longer.
