Q: How do I unlock the stereo in my 2007 VW Passat so I can enter the code?
The battery died a couple of days ago. After jumping it, the stereo read "imput code". Of course we can't find the stupid code anywhere (I know how to get it though)and now after entering the wrong code twice, it's completely locked. HELP! My humming is driving me insane!
Oops...it's a 2006 not 2007. Don't know if that makes a difference.
A: The car should be under warranty so you can go to the dealership and they will do it for you for free. Also try to disconnect the battery again and then connect it again. Next enter the right code and then press one of the arrow buttons >> or <<.
Q: Problems with your 2007 volkswagen passat?
I just want to ask all the people that have a new 2007 vw passat 2.0T if you have or had any kind of problems with that car???
1. problems with the transmission???
2. went for a recall???
3. problems with the engine??
4. inside noise??
5. problems with the speedometer and oil???
What kind of problems did you had or have with it? and what do you think about the car...is it a good car or not?
A: Its been a year since I own this Passat 2.0T (bought in Aug 07). I must say it has served me well so far with zero problems. The car is powerful and handles like a champ!! Cabin noise might be a little high for some (depending on which other car you are comparing for cabin noise). Overall am happy with my Passat. Highly recommended :)
Q: Where is Ipod(mp3) input jack on VW Passat?
I have a 2007 VW Passat Wolfsburg edition. I've had the car for over a year, but have never been able to find the mp3 jack. Does anyone know where it would be located? Thanks!
The car has a six-disc CD changer.
A: Have you tried contacting the dealer ? From what I understand the jack is actually at the back of the deck but if you have the optional 6 disc MP3 changer, the changer takes up the aux plug.
Ok well then it is entirely possible that the changer is using that aux plug. Best bet is to contact the dealer though. If worse comes to worse, you can still create MP3 CDs and play them in the changer. At 700mb per CD you still can get 4.2 gigs of music. Not bad unless you are driving for like 6000 miles continuous =)
Q: i have a VW PASSAT 2007 WITH turbo 2.0, is that good?
A: I would have gone with a Jetta only because they have the same interior and trunk space, but the Passat is more complex and therefor more expensive to repair.
BUT if you stay on top of the maintence, you should get VERY good service out of it for 100,000 + miles.
My two suggestions would be to use only full synthetic oil. It's good for the engine and very good for the turbo. And after you stop let the engine idle for about 1 minute before you turn off the key. This lets the turbo slow down and will preserve the bearings and seals.
Q: how do i take my resonator of my vw 2007?
i have a 2007 vw passat and i wanted to take off my resonator because the car sounds really plain so how do i do it
A: grab a saw-zal and cut it out if it is straight, if it is curved, or the pipes wont line up, take it to a muffler shop, we charge thirty dollars for the job. you will need a piece of pipe to put in its place. just a note though, when we sell the pipe to someone doing this themselves, we charge thirty dollars, so if your gonna do it, call a muffler shop and ask them how much they charge to do it, then ask them how much just for the pipe, and in that order, or you will get a higher price, its an easy job to do, but it may not be worth it if you have exhaust leaks. when we get customers in the shop who have done this, we charge 30 dollars to weld up the leaks, so think about it befor you do it, and good luck
Q: Any advice/comments on a 2007 Volkswagen Passat??
I'm thinking about buying a 2007 VW Passat. I'd be interested in hearing comments or listening to advice on this vehicle. It's the 2.0T model.
A: It's a magnificent car! For people that can appreciate the little extra that makes a car interesting to drive.
Q: passat vw SNOW TIRES ?
I need to put some snow tires on my new 2007 vw passat..the weather has just gotten too horrible. VW said to just shop around, but does any other passat owner have a specific brand etc they recommend?? directire.com? Looking for suggestions!!!!
to clarify...i dont have all seasonal tires. the dealership actually told me snow tires would be a good idea. Im just in a blizzard right now...been getting stuck left and right.
A: Michelin has a great snow tire. Some small American brands are very good too but may not size for you.
The absolute best snow tire is the Bridgestone Blizzak and you can price shop them at tirerack.com and most tire stores in your town will be able to sell them yo you also. A few mouse clicks and phone calls from the yellow pages (Tires) and you will have a dynamite winter car.

Q: I am looking into buying a 2007 Volkswagen Passat and need some answers to some unresolved questions?
I would like to purchase the 2007 Volkswagen Passat. All that I have done so far is been searching online at dealers inventories. So I guess some the questions that I have are:
1. Do all Passat models require premium fuel?
2. What is the difference between the 2.0T and the 2.0T Wolfsburg Edition?
3. Is the Passat a good value for a family of 4?
4. I want a sunroof in my Passat, is that included in package 1? By the way what is package 1?
I have searched all over the VW website and although it is an impressive and interactive site I cannot seem to find the basic information. Please let me know if you know anything. Thanks.
A: 1. Do all Passat models require premium fuel?
Yes! This is highly, highly recommended, because of the turbo. Also if you get the 2.0T remember to change your oil on a strict basis, 3k-5k miles to be sure to keep away sludge and keep the turbo in good shape.
2. What is the difference between the 2.0T and the 2.0T Wolfsburg Edition?
As said above it is an appearance package. ground effects and badges, some interior badges.
3. Is the Passat a good value for a family of 4?
This is a matter of opinion. It can be a great value. They are popular cars right now and so far from what I have seen the last two generations of Passats are of good quality and value
4. I want a sunroof in my Passat, is that included in package 1? By the way what is package 1?
Package 1 includes the power sunroof, heated seats, heated washer nozzles, 6 cd in dash with Sirius and mp3 capabilities and the diversity antenna (acts as a regular antenna and the satellite radio antenna in one)
EDIT: go to http://www.vwvortex.com to see what people that own these cars think and can tell you about owning one.
Q: Passat Fuel?
For the 2007 VW Passat 2.0T, it says to use premium fuel since it's a turbo. Would anything happen if you used regular fuel? It seems like all cars now say to use premium, even minivans.
A: Just put the fuel is recommended for otherwise you loose your warranty.
Q: I need to change my speedometer from MPH to KMH?
I have a 2007 VW Passat Wagon. I am investigating shipping my car to europe. I have to convert the speedometer to KMH among many other changes. Anyone know how to do this? Amazingly, the car does not have KMH anywhere on the speedometer scale! Thanks!
A: It would be a lot easier to do it in your head than any other way.
8 kilometer/hour = 4.970 969 537 9 mile/hour (mph)
Q: Is Passat 2.0T a reliable car?
Anyone owns a 2006 to 2007 VW Passat 2.0T? I have no doubts about the cars good performance and build qualities but any reliability issues especially on the electricals? Is the maintenance cost as high as BMW or Mercs?
A: try looking on

Q: Boosting torque and horsepower on a 2003 VW Passat?
I was wondering on a 2003 1.8T Standard 4 cylinder Engine that has 170 horses standard, how can one boost the horsepower and torque. On the new 2007 and 2008s the performance is as follows:
TORQUE
207 @ (280 Nm @ 1800-5000) - 4 cylinder
265 @ 2,750 (360 Nm @ 2,750) - VR6
HORSEPOWER:
200 @ 5,100-6000 rpm - 4 cylinder
280 @ 6,200 rpm (206 kW @ 6,200) - VR6
My VW Passat from 2003:
Horsepower 170-hp @ 5,900 rpm
Torque 166 lbs.-ft. @ 1,950 rpm
Can I at least boost it to where the 2007 4 Cylinder Engine is at? I have been told ECU chip is the way to go. I don't know much about cars let alone ECU chips, but some people say I need a supercharger, turbo, whatever...exhaust...so some say I could do it for under$1,000 others say $7,000 for a whole new enginge. Please let me know.
One answer says "Put bigger headers on it, Exhaust, cold air intake, Possibly a turbo with intercooler . And if u want to really go to town put a 50 shot of dry nitrous in the intake nitrous isn't expensive around 500$ for the whole setup and to fill the tank about 30 cents."
Yet again I say, I DO NOT know about this stuff. He makes it sound like it's not big deal, but how much is a job like this going to cost me and isn't Nitrous only if you want to fast and the furious with your engine? I'm happy just getting a big boost in horse and torque (between 220-300 horses and more than 200 lbs of torque) I don't need 500-600 horses especially with gas prices now. Please please explain it to me in laymen's terms I am not a specialist in cars, I'm a young guy who can barely change his own oil let alone add "headers and cold air intake" Thanks

A: The simplest way to up the boost is to chip it. Meaning you get a performance flash done to your ecu. This will give you substantial more horsepower.

Next after the chip I would do is exhaust. The downpipe is the most restrictive piece of equipment on that car.
These are honestly the best places to start. Screw an intake. Its not worth it on that car until later on.
Q: My 2007 Volkswagen passat is eating to much oil???
My car has 7000 miles and I started to see that is messing to much oil from the car.
I went to vw dealer and they said that is normal...but do you guys have the same problem? is this normal for a new car to eat so much oil?? please help me.
the car is a 2.0T
thank you all
A: This is something that is not unusual; in general, European vehicles use more oil than US or Japanese design, that is by design.
You have not said how much oil your using; you need to insist that the dealership start an oil consumption test to actually see how much oil the engine is using. Now, the turbo motors use more oil due to the heat that the engine generates; I used to recommend that people check the oil at least once every 1500 miles or so on a turbo, and I'm sure that you know that ALL VW's except the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine require synethic oil meeting VW specification 502.000, which only specially labeled Castrol Synethic meet this requirement.
On the oil consumption test, you need to pay for an oil and filter service; every 1000 miles or so, you need to return the vehicle to the dealership to measure how much oil has been used (or needed to be added to the motor). You will be charged for the oil needed to top off the level. Have them write a work order for it, so there is a paper trail on the concern and it can be easily documented for the VW Zone Rep.
Normally, the oil consumption test usually runs for about 3000 to 5000 miles. At the end of the test, the amount of oil added, divided by the number of miles, gives the miles per quart oil for usage purposes.
If the oil consumption falls below the minimum acceptable factory level, then the VW zone rep has to give approval to either open the motor or have the dealership contact the Field Service Representative to check on the vehicle.
Now, I cannot say what the normal consumption is considered to be today; when I was last with VW in 2005, the level was at 1000 miles per quart. You will need to have the dealership or VW tell you what the current acceptable level of oil consumption is.
If you undergo the test and it is found to exceed the standard (what ever it is today), VW normally will pay for substitute transportation or fixed allowance towards a rental vehicle for the time it takes to repair the vehicle. You might be able to meet the zone rep for VW and make your case.
However, I worked in VW dealership service departments on/off over a 25 year period and I can tell you that VW won't do anything without the consumption test being run first. I will warn you that it isn't unusual at all for many VW motors to use a quart of oil between 1500 to 2500 miles... You can check various web sites devoted to VW's and you'll find that oil consumption is one of the big issues with VW's and other european designed vehicles.
I hope this helps, a car nut.
