Q: What's the best cash price to pay for a new Volkswagen 2006 Passat sedan?
I would like to know the best (pre-tax, pre-fee) cash price anyone's paid for a VW passat "package 1" car, so I can get a deal! I have seen blue book, invoice price, etc. Just want to get some real data "from the people"!
A: The only money left to negotiate is rebates, special interest rates, and the dealers holdback. As for the holdback just take 2.5% of MSRP and subtract it from the Invoice amount after all features have been added on. This will be the base bottom price. Of course you will have to find a dealer that is willing to MAKE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING off the transaction with providing you the full HOLDBACK amount.

Q: What remote car starter do you recommend for a 2006 Volkswagon Passat?
I recently purchased a 2006 VW Passat 2.0 I4. The dealer said they don't install the starter for you and he told me to buy it from somewhere else. Do you know of anywhere reliable I can buy one from? And which one to buy? Thank you!!!
Note**
The car has what I think is called "Intellikey", it doesn't have a physical key, you put the box shaped remote key in a hole, press it down and the car starts, not like most cars..

Q: All weather floormats for 2006 Passat?
I just bought a 2006 passat. It comes with carpet/rug style floormats. My problem is living up in the North, these will be ruined by all the salt & sand used during our winters. Does anyone know of any all weather floormats for the Passat? Does VW sell them? Aftermarket styles? Thanks for the help.

Q: 2005 Passat GLX or 2006 Passat 2.0 4 cyl?
I'm going to get a VW Passat but I'm not sure which would be the best? Is one more reliable than the other? Any years i should avoid?
A: Go with the 2.0t, that's a better engine than either the 1.8t or the V6.
Q: What do you think of the looks of the current VW Passat?
Personally, I find it really nice looking and like it even better than a BMW 3-Series or 5-Series, and even the Lexus ES. What do you think of it?

A: VW always knows how to do cars right...u know that. yes i love it.
Q: Why did my car lose power to the engine while I was driving?
I was driving on a city street yester and my automatic 2006 VW Passat lost power. The radio and everything remained on bu when I would step on the gas no power to the engine. The battery light came on and the temperature gauge was normal. I coasted to the side of the road, turned off the engine, and turned it back on and everything worked fine. It is a bit concerning though that this could happen on the freeway or to my wife while she is driving with the kids. The car only has 40k miles on it. Any help?
A: I own a 2000 Audi A4 (same engine and tranny as VW). The VW has many safety factors to prevent damage to itself. But sometimes these "safety" factor kicks in for no reason.
Drive it again and it might be gone for good. If it returns, then the only solution is to (a) go to the dealer or VW specialist (b) buy VAG-COM scanner.
I own a VAG-COM scanner and I think it is worth the money. It tells you a lot about the car and it internals.
Good Luck...
Q: Car lease take over in California - any extra fees to be paid?
I'm planning to take over my friend's 2006 VW Passat lease. Its currently registered. I'll only be paying for the lease for the next 15 months and will give away the car to the dealer, I won't be purchasing it. Will I be subjected to any sales tax or registration fees or any other fees that could be significant?
A: It depends on the lease company. Some lease companies don't allow lease transfers, or takeovers. If his lease company is Volkswagen Credit, they do allow takeovers, except in the final 12 months of the lease. They charge $100 for a credit check on the new lessee but no other fees. However, they hold the original lessee responsible if you were to default and stop making payments.
Make sure that the car is clean and has no damages that you would be held responsible for when you return it to the lease company at the end of the lease.
Q: passat turbo go out?
I might buy a 2006 VW Passat 2.0T. I'm kinda scared about having a turbo engine that might go out and cost a lot of money to repair. Does this happen often? how reliable are turbo engines?
A: Well, if you take care of it, a turbo can go for very many miles. But if you abuse it, you'll screw it up very easily, that can be expensive. If you're doing a lot of stop and go, you'll eat that turbo up in little time.
But whatever you do, try to stay away from Volkswagen.
Q: I am looking for a way to keep the drivers seat in my car cool without having to sacrifice style.?
The only option I have found that looks like it will work are the beaded seat covers and those seem kind of tacky to me. I have a 2006 VW Passat.
A: Some automotive stores have simple-looking black heated/cooled cushions. These things have heating elements in them for winter use, and tiny built-in fans for summer use.
I haven't tried one, but know they're available in stores.
This item covers only the portion of the seat that's in contact with your body. Best of all, it's quite simple-looking like you asked for.
