Q: Should I buy this used 2000 VW Jetta GLS?
I am possibly going to buy a used 2000 VW Jetta GLS tomorrow. However, I have never had a VW before and wanted to get other opinions on the car. It is in good to excellent condition, everything has been changed (timing belt, tires, etc.). It has: -Leather interior -CD -moon/sunroof -automatic -84,000 miles -tinted windows The asking price is $7000. Is it worth it to buy this car? Any Jetta owners out there that may have any tips, pros/cons?

A: offer 4900.00 (not a dime more)

Q: whats the maximum miles a vw jetta can run before it starts giving issues? ?
I am looking to buy a used 2001 vw jetta with 90k+ miles on it. Is that a good option?

A: about 5. new volkswagens are not as reliable as people think. they are also more expensive to fix if something should break. its true that VW makes engines that can run for 1,000,000 miles but other stuff usually breaks before they can get to 200,000 and are sent to the junk yard

Q: Why won't my 2003 VW Jetta key-less remote open other 3 doors anymore?
My keyless remote to my 2003 VW Jetta used to unlock the driver door when pressing the unlock button once and then the other 3 doors when pressed twice. Recently, it only unlocks the driver door matter how many times you click the unlock button. Trunk button still works fine. Any help would be great! Thanks so much!

A: You have a lock problem! Either one of your door lock switches is not working properly! So check and see that they all work when pressed! Or one of you door latches is bad!

Q: What oil does a 2003 VW Jetta use?
I have a 2003 VW Jetta. Not Turbo, not diesel. Not even Txx (some model). Just Jetta, period on the back... What oil does it use? 5w? or 10W?

A: 5w30 and I suggest a full synthetic.

Q: About how much would it cost to have a used transmission installed in a 2002 VW Jetta?

A: You can find used, good transmissions for 300's upward, just look around in craigslist in the "auto parts" section.

Q: where can i find a used throttle body for a `99 vw jetta?

A: For parts, I would check VWVortex classifieds: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=812 You'll need to know what type of engine you have (2.0L 4cylinder, 1.8T, or VR6). You might even have to know the engine code, but I doubt it.

Q: What kind of oil does a VW Jetta '07 use?
I have the 2.5 Wolfsburg edition, and I don't want to go to the dealership to get it changed as it costs a lot and you have to make an appointment, which they usually can't give you until 3 weeks from when you call.

A: most all volkswagens have to have full synthetic in them. I would not use a regular oil that lasts 3000 miles. I would use one that performs up to 5000 miles like penzoil full synthetic or castrol. as for what weight to use you should ask who ever changes your oil what is best for your driving conditions and elements. If you get a full synthetic oil change its usually going to run about roughly 65-75 dollars wherever you go. You may think its alot but you would pay that much in oil changes anyway if you used regular oil and changed it every 3000 miles and you can go at least 5000 miles on full synthetic. I sometimes go every 6000 miles Also don't just take it anywhere because alot of places don't have torque wrenches to tighten up the oil plug to the proper setting. The oil pan is made from aluminum and will strip very easily if they do not use a torque wrench. I have had to have an oil pan replaced on a Beetle because somebody did a cheap oil change on it. Just make sure before they pull the plug that they tighten it with a torque wrench.

Q: What is the best synthetic oil to use in a VW Jetta?
also spark plugs and oil filter. its a 2003 1.8T

A: VW USES CASTROL SYNTHETIC OIL IN TH 1.8T...THEY KNOW THE ENGINE BEST.

Q: What is the difference between VW Jetta models, GL, GLS, GLX, GT, etc. Is the VR6 engine dependable?
Interested in a used Jetta GLX and want to know if the VR6 engine is worth it from a dependablity standard? And what was a good year for them.

A: The VR6 engine will last longer than the rest of the car. The GL and GLS trim models are usually not available with the VR6. The GT is the GLX trim with the 4 cylinder engine. The GLX is the full boat VR6 with all the goodies. Avoid the 1994 model year, the first ones had some electrical issues. I think the best years were 1995 and 1996. The models after 1996 had a glove box and a central unlocking button, which are useful. Problem spots on the VR6 are the integral water/oil cooler built into the oil filter housing. There is a meal pipe connecting these two systems that ALWAYS tends to rust, eventually breaking and dropping all the coolant on the ground. If this pipe is new, then the old owner fixed it. If not, be prepared to have this fixed.

Q: What is a good turbokit to use on a 1997 vw jetta 2.0(115hp) ?

Q: What do you think about a VW Golf or VW Jetta?
I live in San Francisco and have a HUGE cargo van. I want a small car, and I know German cars are great. Anyone out there ever had a VW Golf or Jetta? I want a used one. Give me the good the bad and the ugly here... Is the TDI a jetta or a golf? I had no idea that any of the jetta or golf models take diesel...

A: I have owned many Volkswagens and i have to tell you for an older car being used they are one of the best if not the best. I have owned 3 Volkswagens so far, i had a 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit GTi, a 1998 GTi VR6, and my current car a 2006 GTi. All of these cars were pre-owned before i took ownership, i have had the general parts that go bad on any car (for example: CV shafts and injectors my issues with the injectors was at 230,000 miles on my '83) For what model you should get well there is something you should know first. the Golf and the Jetta are produced in a almost identical process (Jetta frame is extended to make it a sedan) so picking your golf/Jetta should be on looks since the use the same motor, interior, doors, electronics, and just about everything. Good hunting for one just try to stay 1999 and newer so it will keep u out of the extremely high miles area.

Q: Where can I get the install instructions for a AEM intake system, 1.8t VW Jetta?
I bought this system used which fits on 99-05 VW 1.8t Jetta. It didn't come with the instructions and I don't want to do it the wrong and hard way. A URL or download or e-mail of the AEM instructions for this car would be GREAT!!!! Thanks I already search all over AEM's website and they don't have the instructions anywhere.

A: go to aem website and they will have instructions. when you purchase the item from aem you it comes with it
