Q: 2008 VW JETTA OPINIONS?
Please give me your opinion on the 2008 Jetta. Engine size 2.5 and automatic. How is reliability?
A: They are good cars but you must keep up the regular maitnence to a T, or else they are not so forgiving. Strong bodys and engines. Common electrical problems in the earlier models. Also, some are made in Mexico which seem to be worse. Make sure it is a true German Jetta.
I.E. Wolfsberg Edition or BORA.
Q: What would be the best (most powerful) engine upgrade for my 2008 VW Jetta?
I have the 2008 VW Jetta with the 2.5 Inline 5 Motor. I know that I can get more than 170 out of the motor - I am just not sure what the best way to go about doing this is.
What do you recommend (with cost in mind) would be the best steps to take in modifying this car. I don't intend for it to be a racer, I would just like more accelleration power.
Any advise would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks!
A: You might want to check the mkV forums on the vwvortex to see what others are doing. forums.vwvortex.com I know there are plenty of after market chips available from techtonics tuning, C2 motorsports, GIAC. But they require you to send out you ecu for the install. An intake and exhaust won't really do a whole lot for your car by themselves but will help get the most out of other modifications you do. There are turbo kits available for the 2.5 as well check out NGPRacing.com they just built a turbo rabbit. kinetic motorsports sells lots of turbo kits for volkswagens but they are expensive. Keep in mind that every aftermarket upgrade runs the risk of voiding your warranty if something should go wrong. There are some VW dealers that are C2 motorsports authorized installers so getting an ecu flash through them will keep your warranty intact.
Q: What is the un-governed top speed on a 2008 vw jetta 2.5?
Thanks for any help!
A: Jettas are crap, they make them in Mexico and not Germany. I'm glad I sent mine packing. My IS250 smokes this car.
Q: VW Jetta 2008 SE or Nissan Rogue 2008 SL AWD????
I know they are totally different vehicles to compare. But I can't decide. I haven't driven any of them netiher, but I'm planning on doing it soon.
I've always liked the Jettas' since I was a teen (awww, years ago) but now that I just saw the newly released Rogue I fell in love! I like the Murano a lot but don't have such $$$ so I turned my eyes to the baby one.
I don't know much about cars, motors an reliability. I'm a girl, 26 years old and this would be my the very first new car I own in my life so it has to be the best.
This is what I think...both have about the same price. I love the looks of the Jetta and the fact it's kind of luxury European car but not under $20K. I also love the look of the Rogue but I know the interior it's going to be much plastic just as all the Nissans'.
What do you think?
Thanks!!!
A: I would recommend the jetta you might have little bit more problems with it compare to the Nissan. The jetta is drives handles way better than the Nissan and feel more put together.Interior is nicer to. Vw have 4year or 50000 miles Nissan have 3 years or 36000 miles warranty.Vw 's have some minor problems some time ,nothing big.I don't know much about Nissan's all I know is When you drive a German car vs. a japan car they drive totally different. If I "m not mistaken the jetta comes with more standard and safety features.
Q: VW Jetta 2008 vs. Chrysler Sebring 2008?
What is better to buy?
A: Jetta is a much better buy.
Q: 2008 Subaru Imprezza Premium or VW Jetta SE?
Help me decide between VW Jetta SE and Subaru Impreza with Premium Package. Like the German car feel, seats, interior but Jetta lacks AWD and Auto Dim Rear VIew Mirror.
THe Subaru has AWD and Dimming Mirror but not sure about the interior and most concerned about whether the seats have enough support for legs/thighs while driving distances.
It has to be one of the two but I am so torn. Suggestions? Advice? Input?
A: I own a Subaru Impreza, and happen to work at a dealership where I sell VW's and Subaru's. The AWD system is unbeatable in inclement weather, and yes, the seats are great for long distance driving. My personal suggestion would be the Subaru. Especially since they are more reliable, recommended by Consumer Reports, and JDPower. Maintenance also costs significantly less on the Subaru. My insurance is cheaper on my Subaru than on my Jetta, so I don't know what the first lady was talking about, and also, the Rabbit and the Jetta are far cries from eachother, as the Rabbit is made in Germany, and the Jetta in Puebla, Mexico. The specs just don't seem to be there, the Rabbit being a much more solid car than the Jetta.
Q: VW Jetta Owners?
I am looking into a 2008 VW Jetta SE. I took the car for a nice long test drive and from what I could see, it seems like a nice car. I was just curious to know owners feedback about this car. How is the durability? Is it really a soft ride? Does it make any noise? How would you rate it overall 1-10 as 10 being the best? How do you think it drives in rainy and snowy conditions?
Please tell me your insight about this car, either for it or against it. It would help me a whole lot. Thanks all!!! =)
A: I have an 39 mo lease on an 06 Jetta. I have not had one problem with my car.. I have to give it up in March and my experience makes me want to stick with another vw.
Put premium in it, it'll actually save you ~$15 per fill up.
Q: How much should the monthly payments for this VW Jetta approximately be?
the 2008 VW Jetta SE. I fell in love with this car...but when I went to the dealer I wanted the S and they said it's sold out across all of Southern California. Is that true? Anyway, they told me the monthly payments for the SE would be around $275 with $2,600 down payment. But isn't this too much for a Jetta? Also they didn't do a credit check but they said this is the monthly payment for excellent credit. Can I get a better deal somewhere else? Plz help!
Oh i forgot to mention this is a lease.
A: You need to find out more information about the "deal" they are offering you. Things you need to know include:
1. Total purchase price?
2. How many years for the loan?
3. Interest rate on the loan?
Those factors should be the information you make your decision with. Then check around and find the terms at other dealers before you sign or commit to anything!
If it is a lease then you need to find out some of the same things and what you would be responsible for at the end of the lease! My daughter had a leased vehicle at one time and at the end of the 3 years it actually cost her $5400 to get out of the lease and she didn't even have the car anymore. Be VERY careful! Take someone older and with some experience with you to read over the contract and make sure your not being taken advantage of. Good luck!
Q: Is the lug pattern the same on vw jetta 02 and 08?
I found some rims that fit a jetta 2002 I want to know if the lug pattern is the same on jetta 2008 both of the have a 5 lug pattern, but I'm just wondering if it would fit. thanx
A: I don't think they will, the '02 should be 5x100 and the '08 5x112.
Q: can I just put sub woofers and no extra speakers in my '08 Jetta?
I have an 2008 Jetta VW and I want to put a system in it. Besides sub woofers, do I have to buy anything else to make it sound good or do I need the box that they go in, the extra speakers, and the other eletrical nonsense that goes with it?
A: Yes, with sub woofers, you are going to need a amp to push them and a box to put them in, which of course is going to take a person whom of which knows what they are doing! They will have to run a red positive wire from your battery to your amp. This takes some experience, you don't want to get just anybody to do this! I learned the hard way.
But yeah you are goina need a amp and depending what size the subs are the amp has to big enough to push them! Then you have all kinds of wires that have to run to your cd player, a ground wire, speaker wires, and then if you want to hear the {words} to the music you can also buy some not so expensive small speakers for your doors, and then maybe some for the back. Thats if you want to go all the way.
My favorite is JL audio speakers and Kickers! They are pricey but they will give you that BOOM! Go online to best buy and start there, look at the options and the prices!
I had 2 JL Audio 10's in a box in my trunk, and a amp.
I also went to best buy and bought some back speakers for my back seat window. I also bought a kenwood cd player.
It gets pricey but hey you will never go back after you have BOOM!
I hope I helped! Please take my advice though, do not let just anybody hook your system up!!!!
I hope that was helpful (-'
Q: Aux cable for a vw jetta?
I recently bought a 2008 Jetta with an auxiliary outlet. I bought a cord at Radio Shack, it worked but there is static in the background when I use it. Does anyone know which auxiliary cord works with a vw?
I know where it is. I want to know what brand of cord to use. But thanks anyway.
A: my sister got a 2008 jetta, theres a little place for the ipod in the center console, it just plugs in and plays
Q: Cost of changing brake pads on vw?
how much would dealer charge to change the break pads? is under warranty?
also does anyone know how long pads last under sporty driving?
info: 2008 vw jetta.
A: If you have a service plan, they would prob change front brakes at 40 000km - that is with very harsh driving.
brakes should normally last you 80 000km
easy to replace yourself..... and cheaper
Q: Which 2008 VW models can come with heated seats?
I have had several Generation 4 VW models, and my 2002 Jetta came with heated seats.
Which of the current models come with heated seats also? Living in New England can be a bear and having heated seats help greatly.
Thanks for your help!
A: 2006 and 2007 VW passats came standard with heated seats, but for 2008 the only trims it comes standard with are the LUX and VR6 passat trims, not the turbo or Komfort.
Q: What car should I buy a 2008 Civic DX or 2008 Jetta S for my 16 yr old teenager?
I am concern about the cost in maintaining ,repairing a VW.
Which one last longer?
Which one sales better?
A: A 16 yr old will destroy any car in less than 1 year. Neither will last long enough to need any maintenance.
Go find a decent late 90s car that runs decent and make your kid pay for all the damages and maintenance. It will teach the some responsibility. It also means you are only out maybe $1,000-2,000 when they total it.
Q: Where was my VW made?
I have a 2008 VW Jetta Wolfsburg Edition. I'm wondering because I've heard stories relating to the reliability of a car and where it was made.
A: Use this VIN decoder to work out all the information in your VIN:
