Q: i lost the lug key to a 2006 VW Jetta and need to change the tire, what can i do?
tires flat at work 50 miles away from home and can't find the key for the locking lug nuts. What can I do? can VW roadside assist. get the tire off, w/o the key?
A: there are usually only about 6 patterns. do you have anyone you know who drives a vw most likely they are the same.
other then that the only option i guess would be taking it in to a tire center or ordering a new key offline.
you could also try some standard ratchet sizes. good luck.
Q: Is the paint on a 2006 VW Jetta lacquer or enamel-based?
A: Unless it was repainted by a body shop with enamel, it's water based.
Q: 2004 Mercedes Benz C240 4matic or 2006 VW Jetta 2.5 ?
Trying to decide on a car. They are close to the same price. $ 15,500
Both - leather, 6 cd changer.
Benz - 91000 miles
Jetta - 23000 miles
Any ideas on which is a better value, which would have more repairs or more expensive repairs? Anyone who owns either - any insights?
A: How can you even want to compare a MB to a VW ???
I don't understand your question.
Of course MB is the better car, but of course it is also costlier to repair and mantain, besides 91000 miles are too many !!!!
On the other had, the Jetta is a practical car even though it is not stylish and will loose its resell value soon...
But as you put it...
I would get the Jetta but only because 91000 miles in 3 years is outrageously high milage. Was it a cab??? A Rent-a-cart vehicle??
Forget about the MB.
Maybe you should look for other options. For 15500 dollars you can get some better cars.
Q: Gas mileage on a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5?
I had a quick question regarding my Jetta. Its an '06 and has 29,000 miles and I have taken it to its regular services... but like two months ago, it started to give low mileage, and I was wondering if it was normal. It gives about 20 miles to the gallon.
A: Gas Mileage: 22 mpg city / 30 mpg highway
Engine: 5 Cylinder, DOHC, 2.5 Liter
Horsepower: 150 @5000 Torque: 170 @3750 ft-lbs

Q: Price for 2006 VW Jetta TDI?
How much would you say a 2006 Volkswagon TDI in excellent shape, but with high km's would be worth? It has 199,000km. I am in Canada.
A: Jetta TDIs are in pretty high demand, especially 2006s -- the last year diesels were available in any small VW. They're pretty much going for the same price they sold when new, and the prices probably won't calm down until the 2009 Jetta TDI arrives.

Q: 2006 VW Jetta 2.5L: Replacement of OEM coolant fluid:?
First major tuneup is recommended at 40k. Coolant will have had two full calendar years of service. Daily car commutes a 70/30 ratio of local commuting vs interstate When should I replace coolant fluid?
A: I don't think that I would change the coolant because I believe that it is 100K coolant. But I would recommend a very over looked maintenance item and that would be getting the brake fluid changed. It is recommended every two years so you are right at the time that it should be done.
Thanks
Q: I own a 2006 VW Jetta GLI with 16k miles...Should I buy a VW Jetta TDI instead?
The private sale market for the GLI is very slow...I think I might suck it up, take the negative equity hit, tradein my GLI for the TDI since #1 the gas mileage is way better, and #2 the re-sale value looks better than the GLI...any opinions?
A: We have a Jetta wagon TDI and absolutely love it! If you decide to go for the TDI, and you live in a place where the winters get pretty cold (ie Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, etc.), then definitely get the cold weather package. Wish we would have. TDIs take a while to throw heat in frigid weather, so heated seats are a near necessity.
Q: Does the 2006 VW Jetta 2.5 have a block heater standard?
A: as far as i think all vw have block heaters , easer starting in winter , call a dealership for a true answer.
Q: VW Jetta 2006 AM Radio?
AM radio in my jetta plays really bad that i cant listen to it. The same radio station in another car of mine which is not VW, has a very clear reeption. I took it to the dealer and he told me that this is a problem with couple of Jetta's and cannot be fixed. Any ideas what is going on with Jetta's AM Radio.
A: It is true that the VW's have a lousy AM radio reception, however, they should run a scan to see if the issue persists.
Many times the ground circuit fault with the antenna where it is ground at the roof at the rear of the vehicle. Europeans don't listen to AM very much, the important things like football (socer) and other things are mainly on the FM side, not the AM side like here.
You should have them plug in another antenna into the radio when is out of the dash; see if the AM reception improves any. If it does, then the issue is either the antenna or the antenna led in, sometimes though, it could be the radio itself. They should be able to demo another radio for you to see if the reception improves any. At the dealership I was at, we used to check out these radio issues all the time and prove to the customer that sometimes there wasn't much we could do, but they should be able to prove it to you.
Hope this helps, a car nut.
Q: Why did my VW jetta 2006 power door, mirror, window and lock from the driver side stopped working?
I have an issue, hope someone can help. I own a 2006 volkswagen jetta and the power mirror, window and lock from the driver side door stopped working all of the sudden. Remote won't work, it won't roll windows up or down, not even with the key. All the other sides work just fine. I removed the driver's door panel and everything goes to a module, I wonder if this is my problem. Also the driver's door pin does not work, I close the door and the light on door and cluster are still on. It wanted to work for a couple of minutes when I hold door open half way (may be just coincidence?) PLEASE HELP!!!
A: If it's only that door, you need a circuit diagram of that car to trace the possible "cut" points". As it is the door, most likely spot IS right at the door where it goes into the body.
When did you bought it? It should still be under 3-yr warranty unless you put a lot of miles on it already. In any case, leave it to a real mechanic or a dealer.
Q: i have a VW Jetta 2006 platinum gray and i need a nickname for it. any suggestions?
A: Gray Ghost.
Q: where is the mirror control on VW Jetta 2006?
A: Right on the door panel next to door handle...to your left hand side..the tiny circle knob...it has a little arrow at the end...if it is pointed in the middle then that means the mirror defrost is on..if it ispointed up then it controls the left mirror (drivers side mirror)...a little hint though..by adjusting the drivers side mirror alone, the passenger side mirror automatically adjusts to reflect the location of the drivers side mirror,,, so you will really only ever need to adjust the drivers mirror.
Also do not leave the arrow pointed to the middle (defrost area) as it will drain your battery very quickly.
They may have changed this in recent years,,,,but in all my jettas this has been where it is located.
Q: Is this normal for my 2006 Jetta ??
I bought a 2006 VW Jetta brand new.
So far ever since it's been very expensive to take care of. Around $83 for just an oil change. I get my car done every 5K miles. I usually have the tires rotated, oil changed, and the works. It always ends up costing around $500. This last time I had the 40K done and it was $700. Now the cars at 46K and I'm going to have the brakes done, as suggested by the dealer. They were at 3mm or less. They said they have to replace the rotor also front and back. It's $384 per axel. So $700 plus who know how much for the oil change too. Since I bought it I've spent like $5000.00 for care. Is it normal for these German cars to be this expensive? I should have bought a Lexus.
I can't take it anywhere else because of the warranty.
A: All new cars are expensive. Shop rates are high as well. At 46k, I would question why you need more than pads replaced. If it is VW policy to not turn rotors, then that makes some sense; however you should not have so much wear on your rotors unless you drive it in a spirited fashion.
You can get your oil changed anywhere; it is unlawful for them to prevent you from getting oil changes done at "grease monkey" or wherever. Get your oil changes somewhere else, and if you have more concerns, look into a VW Jetta blog. VW owners love to talk about thier cars, I am one!
Q: How to open the plastic case around the engine of my jetta?
How do I open the plastic case that covers the engine of my 2006 VW Jetta?
A: they are normally clipped into place or held in place by srews or small bolts wich u have to find then undo.. then remove the cover ! its best to go to your VW mecanhic first
