Q: why wont my keyless remote open my 2004 VW jetta?
My trunk opens and my lock works on it but not the unlock! My battery died and after i got it started that's when it quit working.

A: It could need anew battery in the key fob.

Q: Where is the power steering reservoir for 2004 vw jetta located?

A: on every car its in either one or two places, the first is right on top of your engine. the second right on the power steering pump itself. if you dont see it when you pop your hood it will be oin the pump. to find the pump just look for the serp. belt it will be there guaranteed :) sometimes they are really hard to get to (like in my 2002 impala 3.8) but you can use a long funnel preferably the ones with a hose on the bottom they are more flexible. fill it up when your car is cold, that way you wont burn yourself

Q: Ways to customize 2004 VW Jetta?
OK. I have a 2004 Jetta. I want ways to customize it. Nothing too Pimp My Ride (like 20 inch wheels lol) but here are some ideas i had... LED Running lights like on Audi RS6 (http://i22.ebayimg.com/04/i/001/16/7f/5078_1.JPG) Any other ideas? Thanks! P.S. I'm mainly looking for things that would make the outside look cooler; nothing too garish or ostentatious. The picture link above it wrong.... http://i3.ebayimg.com/06/i/001/16/7f/4faf_1.JPG that is the picture i want you to look at

A: You can put on a vortex front bumper, best looking bumper in my opinion they can be found at performancecafe.com, or if you have a friend with a golf/gti that is the same color you could turn your car in to a getta, with the gti front end.

Q: Questions about my 2004 VW Jetta GLI 1.8T?
I recently bought a 2004 Jetta GLI 1.8T and love the car but now I'm having an issue. A couple of weeks ago, my check coolant light came on. I had a mechanic look at it but obviously he wasn't familiar with foreign cars because it took over a week to fix it. He ended up replacing the timing chain, flushing my coolant thing (sorry I don't know what it's called) refilling it with antifreeze as he said there was water in it?The day after I get my car back, an engine light comes on, and I take it back to him, he said he doesn't know what that code is so he just turned it off with him machine? My car is running fine now but since this weekend, the check coolant light keeps coming back on BUT my coolant is fine and my tempature gauge stays at normal. Could that just be the censor needing reset? I keep premium gas in the car and it just reached 80k miles. Also, I want to do everything I can to keep my car running good and I just read something on here about a turbo timer? Should I buy that???

A: If your coolant level is at the right level, and your car is not overheating, there is a sensor in the coolant bottle that goes bad all the time. You have to replace the WHOLE coolant bottle, the sensor does not come seperate. There is nothing to reset to make a coolant light flashing stop.

Q: what is the towing capacity on a 2004 VW Jetta?

A: Towing with a Jetta is "not reccomended" so less than 500lbs

Q: Where is the fuel filter for a 2004.5 VW Jetta 2.0L?
The model is a VW Jetta 2.0L gas auto that they call a 2005 with the 2004 body style or a 2004.5 . We can not find the fuel filter on the vehicle. It is not in front of the rear passenger wheel like the older models and it didnt appear to be in the engine bay or anywhere in between. Is it possible that it doesnt have one? Please help. Thanks

A: It's the same as on my bug, so I know. It's tucked in front of the rear passenger wheel, under the car. Be very careful prying off the clips that hold the filter. If they break, you'll have to buy a whole new fuel line. Best soak them with some WD40 and let them sit, than snap them off. (learned from bitter experience - fortunately not my own)

Q: What are the best mods/upgrades for my 2004 VW Jetta GLS 1.8T?
By the way I already have.... APR 93 octane chip turbo-back exhaust AEM air intake Diverter Valve But anything besides that?

A: With the upgrades you already have the logical next step as far as the motor goes is to upgrade the turbo. As far as suspension goes, VW uses pretty good OEM equipment and don't think you get a lot of benefits for the $. You should go to http://www.vwvortex.com/ . It has a large 1.8t group.

Q: What would be the best "Performance Chip" to put into my 2004 Jetta GLI?
I just got a "2004 VW Jetta GLI" Sedan, and I'm wanting to build up the engine, to increase my horsepower + top-speed. I was wondering if anyone knew the cheapest "performance chip" that I could put into such a vehicle. And if there is anything I need to do prior to investing $$$ into the chip? Thanx David Williams

A: all your answers will be solved at vwvortex.com i would go and search you the answer bt im lazy today sign up and just look on the gli forum im sure they already have a list of chips and power outputs and price

Q: Driving in snow: 1994 Volvo wagon (RWD) or 2004 VW Jetta (FWD)?
The Volvo is heavier and has brand new tires, but the VW is front wheel drive. Which is better to drive in snowy conditions?

A: The front wheel drive-- I've driven both front and rear in snow. I am currently driving a RWD in the snow and it sucks. I drive like an old granny so I don't start fishtailing. Although if you put snow tires on the Volvo, it might make a difference.

Q: What kind of chip would be best for my 2004 VW jetta GLI? ?
Also where can I get replacment parts for it? Also perforance parts I cant find anywhere

A: The stock one. Seriously. Do some research about "chips" They've been proven thousands and thousands of times over to be pure snake oil. All that a "chip" does, is change your fuel map. Sure, this makes it seem like you have a little more power, but at the cost of horsepower at the bottom end of your rpm range. Which ultimate means = slower acceleration. It's usually accomplished by leaning out the fuel mixture, which also creates an unsafe condition for your engine. Don't get a chip.

Q: is there a trick to disconnecting electrical connector for a headlight on a 2004 vw jetta??

A: no, there's no special trick. It's pretty easy. use a flat head screw driver to pry open the clipper and you can easily pull it out. the thing that's holding your light bulb, turn it counter clock wise. the whole thing should take your less than 5 mins. depending on which side. driver side takes a little patient because of the battery.

Q: I have a 2004 VW Jetta 1.8 turbo. What would be the right turbo upgrade for my car? Any suggestions?

A: My wife has a 2001 jetta wolfsburg and we upgraded to the K04 sport from www.abdracing.com. The kit has everthing you need and the kit goes on quite easily. You also send the factroy ECU in and they reprogram it for more boost pressure and better fuel maps. I would also suggest getting the front mount intercooler also as the little factory one has a hard time keeping up with the added boost.
