Q: How do I reset the Check Engine light on my 2002 VW Jetta 1.8 Turbo?
I needed a much need tune up and oil change and got them both....is there a way to reset that light? Thanks!
A: I can only assume from the fact that you mention the oil change, that you are referring to the service reminder light, and not the check engine light.
If it is the service reminder light, your owners' manual will contain the necessary information to help you reset it.
If it is the check engine lamp, three things to consider.
First, tighten your gas cap. Believe it or not the cap not being tight (three clicks when closing) may cause the light to come on.
Second, the light may reset itself. The system is programmed to reset itself if it does not see the condition which caused it to go on in the first place once a given number of "drive cycles" have been completed.
If the first or second might be the problem, give it some time, it takes a while for the system to reset and it will depend a great deal on how much driving you do before that happens.
Lastly, if the first two don't work, go to the dealer. No choice but to get someone to hook the car up to a scan tool and clear the fault(s) that is causing the light to be lit.
Q: what size speakers does a 2002 VW jetta have?
I just need like the speakers in the door.
A: 6.5"
Q: What else could be making my 2002 VW Jetta's check engine light pop on?
The code is always Bank 1 TOO LEAN. I've had it to the dealer twice. First time they changed the mass air flow meter and spark plugs. They also cleaned the fuel system. Second time they said everything related to the fault code was performing within specs and basically told me to come back when I had a real problem. Just wondering if anyone knows what else this could be?
Already checked for vac leaks and there are none present.
And fuel pressure is fine.
A: if they fixed it the light will go off, simple as that.
what they didn;t do that you paid for them to do was fix it, which means the light off and codes not popping up in the system. If the light is on the system is running poorly like in reserved mode ( bad mpg, less power etc)
Ask for the owner of the shop or dealership and tell them what the mechanics told ya ;)
Q: does anyone know how to replace a door window on a 2002 vw jetta? I got the interior panel off no propbem.?
The metal inner panel is unbolted. wires disconected . I try to remove it but there is something still holding on behind the panel.
A: can you see the window tracks? is it electric or manual? is the window all the way up or down? There are some bolts in the window carriers that you have to loosen before you can remove the window. You will need to raise or lower it so you can get them through the holes in the door. When you have them loosened, standing outside the car, pull up and out on the glass. You may have to tilt the front down to get it out all the way.
Q: Central Ohio mechanics - Help! Where can I find someone to tune-up my 2002 VW Jetta?
I own a 2002 VW Jetta - has approximately 38,500 miles - and it needs a standard tune-up.
1) where can I find a reputable mechanic in the Columbus/Dublin/Marysville area?
2) what should I basically have done at this mileage?
3) what is a fair price? (I'm disabled and live on a fixed income)
Thanks!
A: My first suggest would have been to do it yourself, because no one will care for your car like you. But, seeing as you are disabled, I would suggest having a friend who is atleast fairly mechanicly inclined help you.
Refer to your Owners manual to find out what specific services are recomended for your vehicle at this mileage.
I would think an oil change, air and fuel filter changer, spark plugs, wires, but see your manual for specifics.
Q: how much would it cost to just get a black paint job on my 2002 vw jetta?
my blue is fading and ugly and i want a new paint job... just plain black thats all. please tell me its not a million dollars!
and also, if i wanted to get all the interior redone... all my inside fabric is falling off how much would that cost too?
A: paint can cost any where from 300 bucks to upwards of about 3 grand, it all depend on the place you go and the paint brand you decide to use. The seats also depending on where you go and what fabric you use could cost from 700 to 2000
Q: Where can I find a Diagram of the thermostat location in a 2002 VW Jetta?
A: Volkswagen has a reverse flow cooling system. So the thermostat housing is connected to the lower radiator hose below the water pump.
Q: I have a 2002 VW Jetta it blows the fuse when the cooling fans come on ?
I have disconnected the fans and operated them from the battery, and they work fine
A: Hmm check your wiring and your Fan control module, don't disconnect the fans because that keeps the engine cool while you arent moving. Take it to the stealership if you dont have any friends that work n Dubs
Q: What is a good after market anteana for a 2002 vw jetta?
A: "mangowalk" (ebay user) has a very good selection. All of his are nice. However, I will say this, the shorter the antenna you get, the worse your radio reception is. Anything shorter than 4-5 inches, and you might as well not have an antenna in the first place.
If you are uncomfortable buying off ebay,
www.dubstopimports.com is a place I frequent.
Q: My 2002 VW Jetta CD player will not pop into place, it just pops out and wont take the magazine in can i fix?
My 02 Jetta Cd player has been working fine untill recently I changed a cd and the mag. wont click and pops out. The Cd player wont stay in at all, I can slide it, but unless you hold it down, it just pops out. Please Help! Is there any solution to fixing this problem, or do I need to take it in??? Any advice will help.
A: I would first check to make sure there isn't anything stuck inside the player or magazine and that the cds are properly fitted into the magazine. Also make sure you are putting it in the correct way.
Q: Is it a big job to change a timing belt in a 2002 vw jetta?
A: Its not a big job, most certainly it is not a job for a novice or someone who does not have a decent tool kit. A decent DIY mechanic can do it if he follows a Haynes manual. Best thing to do to make the job easy is mark the camshaft pulley in two places with white paint, forget looking for the little indentations the manufacturer have put on the pulley.AND before you even try to start the engine check and check again that everything is correct !!!!
