Q: Do 1999 VW GOLF MK4 and Jettas have the same Doors?
Just curious prior to buying a jetta door for my golf.
A: If your golf is a two door, then definitely not. The front doors for a jetta might fit on a four door golf. I've seen jetta front doors posted on classified ads as "for jetta or golf" so that might work.
The rear doors definitely are not the same.
Q: The remote locking on my VW Golf MK4 has packed up ?
The boot seems to lock when I use the remote but the doors need to be opened and locked with the key. The windows dont open at all. What is this and how can I fix it - any ideas?
A: if you have to ask u cannot fix it.
Q: What's up with my VW Golf MK4? The remote keyless button locks the car but doesn't unlock it. ?
I've tried my spare key and the same thing happens so it's not the battery. The "trunk popper" works. The "Lock Button" works. But the "Unlock Button" isn't unlocking the car. What's up with that?
A: take the key to auto zone they have a keyless tester that tells you if your buttons are sending a signal or not to rule out if its your keys b4 you try to fix your car. the other thing is that did you remove the battery or anything like that you might have a anti theft thing where it allows to lock but not unlock. in that case then you need to figure out how to make your car relearn your key.
Q: What are some common performance mods for the VW Golf Mk4 1.6 Petrol?
I'm looking for more horsepower without blowing too much of a stack, what would you recommend?
A: 1.6 aren't the most powerful of car to start off with, so it will be kinda hard to mod without spend loads.
*Replace the existing air filter with a K&N cold air filter. This will allow your engine to suck in air more freely.
*Remove the Cat from the exhaust (the centre part) and repalce with a straight pipe. This will allow the fumes from the engine to escape quicker.
*Replace the back exhaust box with a performance box, this will make the car sound more 'meaty' and help exhaust fume escape quicker.
That is pretty much all you can do without spending big bucks.
If you want to spend abit more, look into getting the cylinders bored out and a performance head with sports Cams.

Q: Why does my VW golf MK4 fidgets as if its going to stall when im accelerating?
please contact me if anyone knows
A: Could be a number of things. Fuel filters are regularly overlooked and should be replace almost yearly. Should cost about $20 at any auto parts store. If its your fuel pump, that sucker will want to die all the time and or wont run at all. Another thing that goes out on these cars is the Mass Air Flow Sensor. I had the same problem you are describing. I did the fuel filter as I just bought the car and figured it needed to be done anyway; and no that wasnt the problem. Upon further research and diagnosis , it was the MAF. Mine wanted to die all the time on acceleration as well. My final "test" if you will, was I disconnected the MAF and drove it. It drove kind of jerky and not smooth at all, but would not die even at idle. The MAF cost me $170 at Autozone which was the cheapest I could find for a genuine Bosche. as i said, your problem could be a number of things. I hope this helped in some way.

Q: Can a VW golf MK4 take a double din head unit?
A: Yep! Most Mk4's come with a double din from stock, the monsoon system.
The Mk4's that don't have the double din, usually have a separate climate control and a single din. In order to use a double din on those cars, you'd have to either remove or relocate the climate control.
Q: How do you remove the gear knob off the gearstick of a vw golf mk4?
A: twist it i'd imagine
Q: What type of spanner or tool do I need to undo sump plug on a MK4 VW Golf?
I saw someone undo their sump plug with some sort of wrench thing.... a dull silver tool.... a socket for the plug with and a long handle, like and upside-down L.
Also, don't you have to press in a little as you undo the sump plug to stop a flow out of old oil, until thread is nearly out and plug is ready to be removed entirely?
I know most of the other stuff like using a new sump plug/washer when putting it back and not over-tightening it.
Thanks.
A: Not sure on the plug, but it could either be a spanner, socket or allenkey. and just have a drainer or container under as you undo the plug as the oil will leak the further out the plug gets.
Don't forget to change the filter, and before you ask there are many ways of removing it, but the cheapest is to put a screwdriver through it!!
