Q: VW Golf 2004 What kind of oil am I supposed to use?
Since it is too expensive right now to take my car into get the oil changed my husband is going to do it but I lost my owners manual so I don't know what kind of motor oil it takes. Anyone who truely knows VW's please let me know. Thanks!!!!

A: Most of them take the 5w-30, at least the ones my friends have had. One friend had the Golf, another the Passat, and one had the Jetta. They all took the 5w-30 when I would help them change their oil. The best thing to just make sure is to give a VW dealer a quick call and ask at the service dept. They can tell you right over the phone. Follow this link to find your nearest dealer. http://www.vw.com/dealerlocator/en/us/

Q: VW GOLF 2004 replacement key?
Hi i lost my key for my golf and need a replacement, does anybody know where i can find one? the dealership can have one made for 250$ AUD but i wanna know if there are any other alternatives? I have my spare at the moment and am using that. Thanks!

A: Unfortunately no. The blade keys are quite costly and need to be programed to your vehicle's immobilizer. Snow700, FYI 250 Australian dollars = 175.55 U.S. dollars

Q: vw golf indicator in the mirror?
On my 2004 vw golf the indicator in the mirror has a cracked glass any ideas on how they come off

A: With VWs it's usually a combination of snap-in tabs and/or a couple of screws. Search the forum for a DIY http://www.vwvortex.com

Q: Can you replace only the lens of a VW headlight?
My 2004 VW R32 (Golf) headlight lenses have micro-cracks. Can you replace the lens WITHOUT replacing the whole headlight assembly?

A: The lens are glued very strong so that moister can not get through. If you want to you can sand the lens with a 600 or 800 grit sandpaper and water. Then you can buff the lens. You can buff them with a buffing compound.

Q: Thinking about buying a VW?
Has anyone had any problems with a 2004 VW golf? That are more then just replacing a headlight.

A: I don't personally own one, but know a few people with 2000-2004 models. Everyone that I know has problems with them. From busted oil pans (the oil pan has no protection) to crazy electrical issues. BTW.. if you get the 2.0 4-cylinder it's a gutless POS. The 1.8T is probably the best way to go if you decide to buy this lemon.

Q: volkswagon golf? please help!!!?
it is possible to make a 2004 vw golf gl fast? and what mods. would be needed??

A: There is a supercharger kit from nuespeed. I mean it depends on how much you want to spend? Try researching on www.vwvortex.com. There are other car forums that will answer specific questions.

Q: Isn't an EIP or HPA Golf much much faster and much cheaper than a ZR1?
Why do people buy a ZR1 when it doesn't have the nobility of a Ferrari or Lamborghini or even that of a Porsche Cayman, and the ZR1 doesn't have the speed or performance of an HPA GOLF or EIP Golf either. For example you can get a EIP Golf for 1/3rd the price of a ZR1 that has a FAR FAR higher top speed. http://www.need4speed.ws/top-speed/HGP_R32_BiT_333/Nardo-Pirelli-Test-2004-VW-Golf-HGP-R32-Biturbo-333-kmh.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwAnr4s4Crc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZgzYJLtnXg Even a $55,000 EIP Golf would do the ring in like 6:59. It's the all wheel drive that makes a big difference. If you saw the video, it was only the highly modded Evo FQ400 that put up any fight the Enzo Ferrari or the Lamborghini Lamborghini Murciélago were no match for the Golf. Even like a 6 year old HPA Golf will do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, which is better than a ZR1. A NEW HPA or EIP Golf would OBLITERATE a ZR1 at the Ring or at the Drag Strip.

A: Well for one thing EIP and HPA are tuner companies. The ZR1 is a reliable factory built car with a warranty that can be serviced at you local GM dealer. Not a lot of people want to deal with the idiosyncrasies of driving a car with 30 lb. of boost on a daily basis. Personally I don't know a lot of middle aged men, the Corvette's key demographic, that are involved in the sport compact tuner scene. Price not withstanding, if you want to compare apples to apples, or in this case tuner car to tuner car, then put the EIP or HPA tuned Golf up against a Lingenfelter Z06. Most importantly, no matter how much horsepower it makes or how fast it is, it's still a VW Golf.

Q: Has anyone ever bought a car off ebay?
I've seen a 2004 VW golf being sold on ebay for £3000. Could this be dodgy?

A: The ad should give you the option to check whether its dodgy or not, it would say "Get the Vehical Status Report" in the description. I wouldn't buy it unless I had checked that 1st. Good luck and happy bidding LOL! Hope this helps

Q: Emissions Workshop error code on dashboard?
I have a 2004 VW golf 2.0 gttdi. The engine symbol is glowing on the dashboard in amber and I have emissions workshop warning when I start the vehicle. I have been advised that it is something to do with a motorised flap in the throttle body. Any ideas on whats wrong and how do i fix it without paying silly german prices.

A: if you have a problem with the trottle plate opening and closing you should get it ck immediately,in most cases this is caused by mcoking or sutting up of the back side of the throttle plate.you could even have a bad throtle plate mtr.get it ck soon.in all reality iy could also be caused by an intermittent connection.

Q: Which is the better car: VW Golf or Nissan Almera UK Spec ?
Plan to help my sister buy her first car, she's interested in those 2. 2004/05 models. I prefer the VW, I think the Nissan is rather common. But there are a lot more considerations. 1.4Litre.... mark v golf....I'm sure

A: you should consider the prices of parts and the reliability and upkeep. I would go for the VW any time

Q: Problem with vw golf cd player.?
I cannot play cd-r's or cd-rw's and also mp3 cds, i can only play origninal cds. How can i get it unlocked?? my golf is a 2004 mk 5 (new shape) .

A: Your cd player will automatically reject any manly or heterosexual sounding discs because you drive a VW. They are only programmed to play music by people like Elton John, George Michael, Will Young and Soft Cell because VWs are mostly fudge packers cars.

Q: 94 VW Golf vs. 04 Volvo V70?
I have a 94 VW Golf GL with 118000kms on it, owned outright. I could buy a 2004 Volvo V70 with 128000kms on it, for $12,000 Cdn. Would you trade an older car with less kms, for a younger car with more kms?

A: not if the VW still runs

Q: I have just bought a 04 VW Golf 1.6 S FSI- was this is a good buy?

Insurance Group:6 I bought the car for the price above minus £1200 part ex for my citroen saxo. I managed to bargain a 12 month warranty over the 3 month warranty given. I just wondered if anybody had owned this car or a similar VW and had any opinions? Is the car reliable, was their any major issues with it, did you still like it after a year? What did your family/friends think etc etc. The car is a lovely example, a few blemishes as expected on a used car but overall really nice. it cost £6995

A: no

Q: Does the VW Golf Mk V 2.0 TDI engine have a cambelt of chain??
Its a British spec 2004 model. Also does anyone know the service schedule for a change if it is belt driven?

A: belt!!! volkswagen will charge you a fortune for a belt in a vw pack go to an independant outlet and ask for a gates cam belt kit these are the people who make them for vw!!! always use a cambelt kit not just a belt esp on this kinda late car!!! ollie732@yahoo.ie
