Q: why does it just quit like that. I have a 2000 vw golf IV and?
Im driving along fine and I slow down to make a turn or just slow for a stop light and it just quits on me then I start it up and the rpm is down and have to keep tapping the gas pedal to get it to keep runniing It has done this a couple of times and its scarey when the breaks and power steering just go off like that .

A: Did you ever speed over a speed bump in the road or anything else of the sort? Golfs tend to do that after whacking the underneath of the car!

Q: how to change 2000 vw golf manual transmission fluid?

A: There is a drain plug like an oil drain plug on the tranny. The fill is very hard to see but its on the drivers side of the trans where the axle goes in, fill it up until it runs out of the plug. On this car its a pain, save yourself the agony and take it to a shop, cant be more than 70 bucks parts and labor.

Q: What is the average price to change rear breaks of a VW Golf 2000 in Los Angeles?

Q: i have a 2000 vw golf and the battery keeps going dead?
i bought a new battery and had the alternator checked and it charging fine and i pulled fuses to the radio and checked my belts whats next

A: I experienced the same issue with my Girl's 2002 Jetta. (If you have a sealed, maintenance-free battery with no removable caps, there's little else you need to do. If your battery has removable caps, check the water level periodically, and refill with distilled water as needed.) In my case, the battery was new but low on water level so I exchanged it for another one. We'll help you figure it out...

Q: Where's the rear windshield washer fluid reservoir in a 2000 VW Golf?
I'm assuming it's separate from the front one but I don't know where it is or if it's hard to get to. Anyone know? I can't find it online and would appreciate help. I'm assuming it's separate from the front one but I don't know where it is or if it's hard to get to. Anyone know? I can't find it online and would appreciate help. Edit: It doesn't say in the manual. The most used phrase in that stupid manual is "See an authorized dealer...." I'd rather not bring it in and pay $50+ for something I should be able to do myself.

A: It has only 1 reservoir its has 2 pumps mounted on it. To operate the rear spray you push the lever forward. Is it working? (I'm guessing no). Do you hear a hum/buzz its the same noise as the front sprays make? If no noise is heard the pump is bad. Its also possible the pump makes an audible buzz but is broken mechanically and wont pump the water. If it does make noise the spay nozzle/jet is clogged. You can try to clear it with a blast of compressed air, poke at the hole with a needle or just replace it (just the jet/nozzle not the whole assembly) its a few bucks at the dealer for the part labor varies. The last and lest likely possibility is the hose got disconnected or is leaking somewhere between the pump and nozzle you have remove interior panels to find the problem, but you have to be absolutely positive the other two are working properly. Hope this helps out good luck. Edit: Just realized this reads like stereo instructions, If you have any problems just ask.

Q: How to best upgrade 2000 vw golf 1.8T?
i have an 2000 vw golf, with about 110,000 miles. I just wanna know some fun and minor upgrades i could add. I don't know too much about cars.

A: look on www.nopi.com under the golf models. look at some air intakes, maybe an exhaust to get performance and sound. maybe chip it. also to make it last longer get a turbo timer and maybe a boost controller

Q: how to replace a passanger side window on a 2000 vw golf deisel?

A: If the window dropped, some dealers will cover it. http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q_how_to/a4/a4windowregulator.htm It was an extended warranty item but it's out of warranty. Since it's so common, some dealers still cover it, most don't on a car as old as yours. The procedure to remove the entire window is to remove the door panel, take apart the window track, unbolt the window, and pull it out.

Q: i have a 2000 vw golf gls 4 dr automatic 2.0 and the air conditioner is acting up,can some one help me please?
i go to turn on air conditioner and it blows cold for a second and then goes hot,it is not the frion which is full, what else could it be or were can i start to look, please help me

A: Are you sure the refrigerant is full? It sounds like the thing is very low and it's freezing up. The other thing could be that there's trash in the system and plugging the expansion valve. Either way, you need to get guages on it and find out for sure. This can be a cheap fix or it could be expensive.

Q: How can I disable the alarm on a 2000 VW Golf? .?
Mine keeps going off randomly when the car is locked and no shops are open because it is a Sunday. If I unlock the car it goes off as soon as the doors auto lock again.

A: Call this a shot in the dark, but what it sounds like to me is that your battery is going dead. When the factory alarm system is armed, and detects a drop in voltage (ie: door/hood/hatch opens and courtesy light turns on) it sets the alarm off. You said your car is a 2000. The average car battery lasts about 5 years, and after that, cells in the battery start to weaken or die. Living in areas with extreme climates, like very hot summers and/or very cold winters can also shorten battery life. When a cell weakens or dies, there is a drop in voltage across the battery. If the voltage across your battery falls below a certain threshold, the alarm interprets it as a forced entry, and sets the alarm off. Bring your battery into any Auto Zone car parts store and have them test your battery. They do it for free. **Be warned: If you disconnect your battery, your factory stereo will need to have the security code re-entered, or it will disable itself. The radio code and instructions on how to re-enter it should be in with your manuals. Otherwise, you can contact any VW dealer and give them your car's VIN, and they can look it up for you.**

Q: 2000 VW golf avantgarde. Struggles to start / accelerate when raining heavily?
She also sounds like she is trying to stall when I accellerate - this can be from a standing start in traffic or overtaking on the motorway. The problem only happens when it is really wet - any ideas? Is there anything I can do rather than risk another huge bill from the garage? Thanks.

A: SOUNDS LIKE ITS DAMP IN THE ELECTRICS TO ME

Q: Where can I order by phone a chiltons manual for my 2000 VW golf!?
a

A: get it online at http://amazon.com

Q: how are the VW 2000 golf tdi?
im thinking of getting one, but is there a different feel to the gas vs. deisel? like is there a different acceleration or anything? and overall how do you like the car?

A: Gasoline - Quieter, easier to start in extreme cold, cheaper maintenance... Diesel - Best fuel efficiency, louder, more noticable exhaust odour, will outlast the gasoline engine with proper mainenance, etc... The big question ... gas VS diesel. When I was looking for a diesel golf (about the same years as you), I ended up getting a 1999 Beetle. For about the same price, you can find a gasoline model with about half the miles on it. (No joke, $12,000 budget would have gotten me a diesel with 200,000km or a gasoline model with 100,000km). Yes the diesel engine is a big plus and it will last a LOOOONG time with proper mainenance, but the 'entire' vehicle has double the mileage. This includes, engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, steering, suspension, wear and tear ... etc. Driving the diesel is nothing out of the ordinary anymore. Everything is computer controlled now days, with very small differences between gas VS diesel. If you don't mind the diesel engine's noise (it's music to my ears LOL) or the slight exhaust smell with the windows down when the engine's still cold, there's really not much of a difference. Regarding performance, according to specs the gas versions are faster. However, you do NOT go from 0-60 when you drive your car ... nobody does. What counts is 40-60, 60-75, 30-50 ... do you understand me? The high torque of the diesel engine allows you (manual transmission) to keep the vehicle in a higher gear without lugging the engine. With gasoline engines, you constanly have to downshift to maintain speed especially if approaching hills. A diesel engine does not like high RPMs, but you just have to get it through your head NOT TO PUSH IT, or it will not be fuel efficient and not last long. It's just a driving style. I hope this helps you with your decision. Good Luck.
