Q: Which is faster? A 2008 VW GTI MKV with turbo or a 2008 Honda Civic SI with turbo?
Im deciding on either the gti mkv or the civic si and would like to know some stats.

A: All depends on the degree of modifications the GTI has compared to the SI. Boost can't be used as a measurement because if you have to 2.0l engines with the same turbo one with a lot more compression ratio and 6psi of boost. The other with less compression ratio and 9psi of boost the one with less boos will produce more power at the end. For that reason boost alone can be used, because a very well modified GTI can take any Turbo SI any day.

Q: When using auxilary jack with my iPod why does sound only comes from one speaker?
I know how to use the auxiliary jack in my 2008 VW GTI. But when I have music playing through it, sound is only coming from one speaker. Is this a setting that needs to be changed? Or is it a faulty 3.5 headphone cable, or AUX jack? Thanks for the help.

A: If you're lucky, it's just a defective cable; but it could be a problem with the auxiliary jack. Make sure the cable is pushed all the way into the aux jack and into your iPod's headphone jack. Some of the cases available for iPods make it more difficult to connect cables securely. If the plug isn't fully seated into either jack, it can cause the problem you're describing.

Q: How many Alpine Type R 12" subs in a hatchback?
I want to get subs for my 2008 VW GTi, and was wondering if one sub would be enough, considering it's a hatchback. I'm looking for pounding bass but nothing to make anyone in the car go deaf.

A: "I'm looking for pounding bass" then you will need one hell of a 12, and it needs to be able to handle at least 400watts RMS when it comes to bass there are a few important factors like the box being used should be ported for more bass and the RMS (continuous) wattage is important but bass is also determined by cone area (the subs surface area) and one 12 cant more as much air as two 12s so even if you had one 12 getting 400watts RMS someone with two 12s getting 300watts RMS total will be louder

Q: Is the 2008 vw r32 worth the 32 grand or is the expected 35-40 grand evo worth the money as oppose to the r32?
Also, in terms of overall performance (handling, speed, braking) style, reliability, MPG, insurance, you know the essentials in a fun to drive car that can live with you day to day as a daily driver? Which is best, and if not would the gti or lancer GT-S be a better choice?

A: The R32 should be really fast when it comes to shifting. It has the dsg shifter, it's faster than the manual.There's a limited number coming to US, about 5000.

I own a 2008 VW Touareg(BLACK) and a 2003 VW GTI 1.8T(GREY)

A: <~~ I drive a 1969 Volkswagen Convertible Beetle, but we also have a VW Beetles - 1964, 1969 and 1972. We just got the 1969 Sedan running again ... so we'll be running around in it when it rains. We're working on the 1972 and will be restoring the 1964 (completely original - barn find)

Q: A quick comparison of cars? Mazda speed3, VW GTI, Impreza wrx?
all from 2008. Which one is better? I'm looking for acceleration and handling. Basically, which has the best performance? btw, what is VW's DSG tranny? I don't get it, is it like paddle shifting?

A: The Mazdaspeed 3 probably has the best performance, particularly in that you can get away with abusing it from time to time without fragging the transmission. The DSG is mechanically similar to a manual gearbox, but has the control interface of a paddle shift automatic. It uses two computer controlled clutches so that the transmission can select the anticipated next gear and merely disengage one clutch and engage the other to make quick, fairly smooth gear changes. A friend of mine is in the process of trying to get rid of a GTi DSG. It worked great for the first 280 miles.

Q: where can i find out how to install a turbo timer.?
i need to find out how to install a greddy turbo timer on a VW 2008 GTI 20. it has a 2.0 turbo. i need major help. i cant find out. PLEASE GET BACK! thanks.

Q: 2009 VW GTi 207 Hp?
What is the top speed of the 2008 model.Is it limited and if so how would you take the limiter off.People say that VW doesn't limit their cars.Can a K&n filter boost the horse power,and by how much.Thanks Mike

A: Top speed is 125 mph. Yes, it is governed. The only way to remove it, is to install a chip. Yes, VW does govern all their cars. A K&N will not "boost" power significantly.

Q: Are the new VW GTI's reliable?
New for me is considered 2006-2008. I'm thinking on buying one, from looking at it on the lot and test driving it, the car seems top notch. But everywhere I look, people are saying they are SOOOOO unreliable, and I'm scared that as soon as I drive it outta the lot it will fall apart. Is any of this true? are the GTI's really that unreliable or is all this fuss coming from unlucky people throwing hissy fits? Need AS MUCH input as possible, especially from previous or current owners. Many thanks

A: I have a 2006 GTI. So I have had the MkV for over 2 years now, and it's still a great car to me. I have had a few problems with my car such as the sound system, and the airbags... but with one quick call, VW took care of everything quickly and in a timely manner. I have recieved better service from VW than BMW... I know right. That's a shocker, but it's true. This car looks and feels great for it's price, and it's also quick on it's feet. They are just as reliable as other cars. With VW, as long as your car gets the service it needs when needed, you will not have to worry about problems. Enjoy! The GTI MkV hasnt been a top pick of magazines such as Car and Driver and Motortrend for the heck of it. It's for a reason.

A: I will be honest with you. I own a 07' GTI and when I drove it out of the lot it was great. It was good till about 1000 miles then all of a sudden I started to have some minor electrical problems, my sound system would bass out on me and it would freak me out sometimes especially if the radio was loud. I took it to my dealer and they took care of it right away. Since then I haven't had a problem and car is pretty good. I get about 24mpg highway and 18 city, so its not too bad. It has a lot of room for a small car, so your friends will definitely appreciate that. So overall it was a great buy for me,good gas,decent ride, and its good looking.
