Q: I need to know what the VW 2007 GTI MKV OEM brake pad and rotor brand is.?
What is the OEM brand and what do I need to look for to stay in specs for my vehicle. If needed I have 18" wheels and I do standard street driving, no racing. Also, where can I find the best and cheapest brand out there?
A: Akebono & Textar make good pads for your year / model.
Zimmermann rotors will do you find if you wont be tracking your car. If you want to track your vehicle in the future then you will want to upgrade.
Q: where can i buy snow tires for my vw gti 2007 ..17 inch ...in ontario canada, and get a really good deal?
A: I can't help you with the "where" since I live south of the border but I would suggest getting a set of 16-inch steel wheels and permanently mounted winter tires sized 205/55R16 91. They will perform better in snow and slush than the wider, lower profile 17" tires and being permanently mounted on their own wheels swapping will be easier with no chance of tearing a bead.
Cooper winter tires are at the low-end of the performance spectrum, by no means the ultimate. Consistently the best performers in winter tire tests are the Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 and Michelin X-Ice in that order. Another one worth looking at that is new this year and for the moment exclusive to the Canadian market is the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R, which is the latest studless snow and ice tire from that Finnish tire maker famous for its winter tires.
Q: does the 2007-08 vw gti need a turbo timer?
A: The cheaper way is sit on the car for 20 secs or so. That is not a whole lot of time.
Good luck.
Q: rotten smell from 2007 gti 12k miles?
i have a 2007 vw gti with 12 miles currently on it. i began to notice a rotten smell coming from my car at 10k miles. the smell started in the from of my car, then i began to notice it out of my exhaust and the right side of my car. Also now my exhaust makes a pinging noise for several minutes at a clip. The car makes the smell whether i drive slow or fast. and it also does it while idle in my driveway. i run 93 octane or higher at all times and i do full syn oil changes. My first thought was my cat or my injectors. I have had it into the dealership three times. 1st time . they said they couldnt smell it. but didnt test drive. 2nd time they said smelt it but didnt find any fault codes change gas they say( say they test drove mileage didnt change a fraction) changed gas to humor them. put 400 m on the car in 6 days. 3rd time they drive it 140 miles, charged me for the gas said the smell isnt there again. got it back after 2 days smell getting worse, Any Ideas?/ Advice!
A: Its hard to tell what it can be...most likely not your gas, I have a 2000 gti and I have put so many different types of gas in there and I have never smelt anything...you should (if you can) take a good timely look under your car and see if there is anything suck under there...sometimes you can be driving and run over a plastic bag and it will get stuck to your muffler or even and animal will crawl under there for protection from someone or something..or like the other person said someone might have pulled a prank on you and suck something in the vents of your car or your muffler.
Q: How do you remove the 07 GTI Engine cover?
Is there a specific way to remove the engine cover on the 2007 VW GTI? And also, by keeping the cover on, do i restrict potential air flow if i add a cold air intake or ram air intake?
A: their should be some 1/4 turn screws that will remove it.
Q: which is a better car and better buy? The vw gti, honda civic si, or vw r32 the 2007 version?
A: honda civic si. The r32 is too much, you could get an evo for the same price so i'll through the r32 out. Track wise the si is the fastest. Straight line the gti wins. Both interiors look good. It comes down to looks and whether you want a low reving turbo torquey engine or a high reving naturally aspirated engine.
Q: torn between scion tc or vw gti?
Can't decide. Love the new GTI(2007), but worried about the many issues the past VW's have had. I only want a TC because it matches my needs and love the reliability. but I hate how everybody and their mother has one.
A: The reason there are fewer VW's is because they are particularly expensive in relation to the tC. VW's reliabilty has been horrible for the past 10 years.
Nice thing about blending in: Cops don't notice you as much.
Also, what other car can you buy 18k, fully loaded with a sunroof, and then turn around and sell it in 2 years for 16k?
Q: I'm looking for a body-kit for my mk5 vw gti!!! please help me find it!!!?
I've been looking all over for an after-market body kit for my 2007 GTI and I just seem not to be looking in the right place. I know they make them because i seen some pictures around the web, can anyone point me into the right direction?
A: www.landspeedusa.com
www.performance-cafe.com
www.blackforestindustries.com
www.ecstuning.com

or ask around the boards at www.vwvortex.com
Q: Are there any knowledgeable honest car audio/stereo instlallers in Northern Virginia?
2007 VW GTI sound/MUSICAL quality upgrade. NOT NOISE UPGRADE! I would also like to keep or improve AM radio reception. Thank you.
A: Crutchfield don't you know?
Q: Volkswagen key where may I buy for a reasonable price?
I have a 2007 VW GTI I would like to buy new keys/key fob or whatever they are called to start my car and lock/unlock my car.
A: good luck. vw settled a class action lawsuit because they wouldn't sell the technology to make copies of the keys to aftermarket shops. So they made them available at a ridiculous price. Dealer is about the only game in town. You can ask a local locksmith or search the web. Or, just don't lose your key.
Q: What are some specs that i can expect from GIAC 2.0T A3 Flashloader Chip?
Im gunna try to get this program for my 2007 VW GTI. Im Interested in knowing 0-60 times, nd from the roll 5-60 time. Thanks guys
A: I don't have this chip, but I do have an 07 GTI. You can find a lot of info on this and other thing on www.vwvortex.com and www.golfmkv.com. Be sure to use the search button there, because I am sure this question has been asked before on there. Good luck.
Q: I was thinking of purchasing a 08 VW gti 4-door. I wanted to get some feedback concerning this vehicle.?
How is the ride, comfort, interior, mileage, reliabilty and etc. I am currently driving a 2007 camry and I like to ride and overall features on this vehicle. Thank you.
A: I swear by my VW's I currently own 2, The GTI's are fast, they had a stiff suspension also look into the Audi A3 they are as fast as a GTI with more comfort features. In the long run though VW are expensive for parts but it will last u forever my older VW is going on 250K miles it sounds like a beast but it still going.
Q: Need very loud aftermarket horn?
I own a 2007 VW GTI and am sick and tired of people cutting me off because they're not paying attention. I need something loud and obnoxious that will get their attention...something that would make a trucker p1$$ their pants.
A: I have Hella horns and they are pretty loud. Look them up, they have many kinds that are much louder and they are pretty simple to install.
Q: I put the wrong oil in my 2007 GTI?
My GTI almost overheated (I was stupid and never checked the oil). Anyway, I had to pull over and put a quart of oil in. The only quart I had was regular Shell 10W40 motor oil. I just put one quart in and drove a couple miles home.
I understand VW only approves synthetic (Castrol or Mobil1). Will I have to do a complete oil and filter change or can I top off a quart of regular oil 10W40 oil w/ 4 quarts of synthetic 5W40?
A: do the whole oil/filter change to be safe
Q: Question on how to burn data mp3's for car mp3 player?
I would like to be able to burn mp3's that I have ripped from my audio cd's onto my computer onto data cd's that I can play on my car mp3 player. I have attempted this using windows media player but the specs for my car mp3 player specify, Type 1 Cd Rom Burning, ISO format. The data MP3's don't work in my player. (2007 VW GTI)
What software will place the mp3's in the right data format for the car mp3 player to recognize them? Or do I just need to do something different in the ripping/burning process with Windows Media Player11.
Any help would be much appreciated.
A: I have iTunes and have done it before. You could try it and see if it works in your car. Here's how:
Choose Edit > Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Burning. Choose MP3 CD as the Disc Format, and then click OK. Then select the playlist containing the songs you want to burn. If the playlist contains more songs than fit on a CD, iTunes burns only the number of songs that fit on one disc, and then asks you to insert another disc to continue burning the rest o the songs.
