Q: Dealer lied to us at time of buying our new car?
We purchased a 2006 VW GTI, brand new at the Fletcher Jones Dealership in Chicago. After inquiring about their different financing options, we decided to pick their Driver's Option (Similar to a balloon loan, lower payments and they would take the car back at the end of the contract, but it's not a lease). They told us, we give you a contract for 10,000 miles/ year but if you would need more miles you can just call VW Credit and ask them to increase the amount of miles we are allowed to drive... This was all a lie, after talking to VW Credit we were told that in no way we can renegotiate the available mileage and therefore we had to stick with what we had picked in the 1st place... In between we went back to the dealership and the sales manager, Niko, told us that we were eligible for adding miles to our contract... Since it's not possible, Niko wants to compensate us for the "lie" but every other time i talk to him, he just looks away a bit more. What are our legal resources?

A: contact Lemon Law or the department of Consumer affairs in the state you are from and make a report and have one of the investigators handle the case its free and when they hear STATE they panic ...

Q: anyone have a good auto tuner site?
for a mini cooper s, scion tC , 2006 mustang , 2006 vw gti, or jut a place for racing seats, exausts , tourbos... etc

A: SCT tuner for any mustang? VMPtuning.com you can't go wrong with them.

Q: What do I choose? An 2006 acura rsx, 2006 VW Golf GTI, Skoda Octavia 2 RS?

A: Get a 2003 Acura RSX with low miles. It will hold it's value and be cheaper to maintain that the other 3. The body style has not changed... why buy a brand new one and spend all the extra money.. it's a freaking Honda, they last forever!

Q: Who knows what magazine this black VW GTI was in last month?
There was a black VW GTI with a carbon fiber hood and dark charcole decals on it either in a Dec. 2006 or January 2007 mag. What magazine was it?

A: I don't know.

Q: How much can I get for this car as a trade in?
I am looking to purchase a 2006+ VW GTi. I am selling a Mazda MX6 for 2k and im going to put that money towards the gti. I also plan on trading in a 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege with 63k miles. How much can i plan on getting for that? there is a 4 inch crack on the front right of the car and also the suspension squeaks the body lip on the back of the car is hanging a lil bit nothing a lil glue cant handle. also the back bumper has some scratches. The car runs good but there may be a small turbo leak. Im hoping the dealership doesnt catch that one.

A: There are a bunch of places to check car prices on the Internet. NADA guides is one - but since they are owned by the car dealers association I never recommend them. KBB is another. Driverside.com is a new site and they have some cool data showing price based on mileage. Based on your notes - you need to look at the pricing for fair/rough condition.

Q: Is it true that I could only lower my payment by buying another new car, instead of preowned? Read details.?
I have a 2006 VW GTI. I pay $400.42 per month, and am almost halfway thru a 48 month lease. My payoff quote as of yesterday was $20,590.08. Kelly Blue Book values my car at $14,975.00. I just want something reliable that would allow me a lower monthly payment...and I want to buy this time, not lease! I know I owe quite a bit more than it's worth. Is it true that only a new car would have enough markup to allow for my upside-down-ness? Also, should I go to my bank first and see what kind of loan they could offer me? Noles07, what is the GAP insurance you mention in your answer?

A: GAP insurance picks up the balance where your insurance company left off in the event the vehicle is in an accident and declared a total loss. As far as lowering your payment, your situation is not going to benefit you by trading out of the VW. Leasing a car is designed to offer a lower payment. People will say a new car would help because of rebates, however in your situation, you will still be rolling in over $5,500 of negative equity. In addition, you will pay a significant amount of interest on that negative equity. In order to get a lower payment, you would have to almost double your current term and purchase a vehicle worth less than your current one. This is basically known as being "buried" in a car loan. Your best option is to keep your VW at least until you only have 6 payments remaining, otherwise, you will bury yourself into a vehicle loan. Rebates help to lower prices, but adding $5,500 of negative equity is going to make your payoff that much higher than someone who took the rebates. I hope this helps and you can email me through Yahoo if you have questions.

Q: Should I Buy A...?
should I really get myself into debt? Im 17, turning 18 in a month... and I dont know if I should buy a car or not. I already have a 2006 VW GTI, but I dont know if I should buy or lease one. I really like the BMW Z4 M, and the Porsche Cayman. I only make $800 a month, and I dont have any bills at all. Should I take advantage now that I can? or should I stick to my current car? thanks! btw, I live with my parents, and dont plan on moving out anytime soon. They pay for EVERYTHING... even the car insurance, so I all would have to do is pay for the car. "...insurance, so ALL I would have to do is pay for the car." I wouldnt mind giving up my entire paycheck for a car like these two... but I really like my car, and if I go for one of these two, I am going to have to give up my car. My car has a $3000 Alpine sound system, and I spent $2,500 on wheels/tires Porsche offers financing for up to 84 months. This will keep the payments under $800 BMW is offering a lease special for the Z4 M. $549 per mo. 36 mo. $3,600 due at signing At what age should I switch cars? 21? by that time I should easily be making over $1,000 a mo. OKAY... so if I cant afford these two... and I get where people are comming from, what would you think about the 2008 Audi TT or BMW 328i Coupe?

A: You have a 2 year-old car...why would you need a new one already?? If you only make $800 a month you can't afford a new car anyway, so forget it. Why get into deep debt when your not even 18 yet? Save your money and stop mooching off your parents. Ok..so you want to spend every cent you make on a car, with nothing left over?? That's dumb...and so is financing a car for 7 years. Do you know how much interest you're going to pay?? Are your parents still going to be paying your bills 5 years from now?? I doubt it. You're going to do what you want...I guess your parents will bail you out when you're flat broke. You still don't make enough...you need to be making triple what you're making to even consider any of these cars. That's figuring no rent or bills...what are you gonna do when you move out and have an electric..phone..and cable bill?

Q: Lowering A Car?
I want to lower my '06 VW GTI, and was wondering what would be the best option. What needs to be changed? Originally, I was planning on changing the Springs ONLY, but someone mentioned that it will affect the shocks. Would another option be to change the Coilovers? How does this work? Here is a link to the springs, and the coilovers - they are both Eibach, and from the website: www.tirerack.com Springs: ($700 w/installation at LesSchwab) http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/suspension.jsp?&make=Eibach&model=Sportline+Spring+Set&group=Sportline+Spring+Set&autoMake=Volkswagen&autoModel=GTI+MkV&autoYear=2006&autoModClar=Standard+Model&partNum=4.10085&perfCode=A Coilovers: (Is it a lot more expensive to install - vs. springs only) http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/suspension.jsp?&make=Eibach&model=Pro-Street-S+Coil-Over&group=Pro-Street-S+Coil-Over&autoMake=Volkswagen&autoModel=GTI+MkV&autoYear=2006&autoModClar=Standard+Model&partNum=8598.711&perfCode=S As you can see, I really want to eliminate the gap inbetween the Tire and Body. The ride height rose when I had 18" wheels installed... compared to the stock 17" it had. As you all know, the new body for the GTI is pretty tall, and I want to give the illusion that it is shorter... but do these kits reduce the height too much?

A: just go to an auto shop and ask them to somehow shorten the shocks till you get how low you want

Q: does any one know the company that makes these if any?
the rims are used on a concept vw gti called the "r" here is the link to the rims http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/10/img_6261_450.jpg

A: Try searching on this site and maybe you can find something similar to those ones plus they are very good looking. http://www.tirerack.com
