Q: what car would win?2005 mustang gt,2005 vw gti turbo,1993 thunderbird 5.0.(all stock)1/4mi and 0-60?
In a 1/4 mi race what car would win 2005 mustang gt 2005 vw gti turbo 1993 thunderbird 5.0 also which one of them would win 0-60 all cars are stock

A: Mustang, although the gti would out corner it any day.

Q: How reliable is a 2005 VW GTI 1.8t?
Hi everyone, I'm looking at buying a GTI with the 1.8t. It has 45,000 miles one it and it has a manual 5spd. Id like to have a reliable car I dont have to worry about.

A: 45,000 miles is decent enough for a VW. The Mark IV VW Golfs have quite a good reputation, you should not have problems living with one. 1.8 Turbo churns out a fabulous 180 bhp.

Q: Choice? - VW Polo 2001 1.6 GTI vs VW Polo 2005 GT TDI 130?
which should i choose? i know the gti would be more fun to drive but its older and needs more revving, the 0-60 figures are 8.7 for the gti and 9.3 for the gt tdi. What you all think? the gt tdi has 6 gears the gti has 5

A: i'd go with the GT TDi. remap (chip) it and you will see 150-160bhp easily, and a whole load of extra torque. in gear, that it going to be a quick car. dont get hung up on 0-60 times. how many times do you actually go from 0-60mph during a race. in gear times (ie 40-70mph) are more important.

Q: Whats better? VW GTI VS. GTI VR6?
So i was looking at getting a new car... came across the 2005 gti and while looking for them on craigslist i saw a gti vr6. what is the difference? 5 speed to 6 speed right? does one have more hp? does the vr6 have a turbo. whats faster? 2005 vr6 is selling for $9500... no way its an r32...right? HELP!

A: vr6 is a close radial v6.

Q: VW GTI- How much risk is too much?
I found this adorable 22,000 mi GTI 2007(minus the sun roof), 2.0T, at a small independent dealership for a price of a 2005 GTI in a VW dealership. The car appeares to be in great condition, runs great; one accident reported on Carfax (reared in March) but no airbags deployed. No records of any major repair. My questions: 1. Does GTI manual recommends gasoline 91 or 93 octane? Today I called two different dealerships to ask this question and I got two different responses. 2. I cannot know if previous two owners used the recommended fuel octane. In case they did NOTconsistently use it, at what point in time would you expect to see some damage to the engine? What type of damage? 3. The car should still have some factory warranty left (3 ys for powertrain, 2 yrs for bumper to bumper coverage). One dealership told me that this worranty should be ok UNLESS I have a problem with an engine and a turbo- in that case I would need to produse records of the car maintenance as recommended by VW manual in order for the worranty to cover it (which I wouldn't have). Is the factory worranty good without the maintenance records? Do I need these maintenance records in order to purchase an extended warranty? I love the car and would love to have it, but I want to avoid making a potentially costly mistake. Is it better to buy a VW from their dealership?? I would really appreciate any insight into this situation that would help me make a better purchase decision...

A: Ok, answers: 1- It can take either or. It has a knock sensor to advance or retard the ignition timing to compensate for the low octane. I lived in the East with my Audi, and 93 was the norm. I now live in the Midwest, now 91 is the norm, no problems. 2- There will not be any damage- you could have it checked out if you are that paranoid. 3- Of course the warranty will be good without records. If you purchase an extended warranty it will not be through VW, it will be from an aftermarket company. Decent investment. Finally, a couple things. One, do not become enamored with a car, especially to a sales person, you then become live bait. Second, have the car THOROUGHLY checked over by an independent VW mechanic. Spending $100, is cheap insurance. If the dealer says you cannot, then run.... FAST!
