Q: 1993 VW Fox GL. Milky White AntiFreeze?
I have a 93 VW Fox GL. The antifreeze is milky white which I'm assuming is the oil/antifreeze mixing. My question is, How do I troubleshoot where the leak is occuring? My antifreeze is all white with a faint hint of the neon green that once existed. The oil was just changed in the car so I can't really tell what the oil looks like, however there is some white paste under the Oil Cap. The exhaust looks a little white but I can't really tell for sure because I'm in Utah and it's FREEZING COLD up here right now. Anyways that's all I can tell you. Thanks to any helpers! What I meant by it's cold is...Even my breath looks white! But how do I narrow it down from those three options?

A: That means engine oil is getting into the cooling system. Most likely causes is a bad head gasket, a cracked block or cylinder head.

Q: i need to know how to adjust my speedometer in my 1988 vw fox does anyone know how??? PLEASE HELP!!!?

Q: i have a 91 vw fox and for the second time gas has gotten into my oil, about two gals, i have taken it in a?

A: does it run bad or run like it always has? That car has a cold start injector in the plenum, it "primes" the system for easy starts. That injector could be stuck and running gas. The would wash the rings and just fill the motor. An injector would do this also. Would help to know how it runs though.

Q: how expensive is a vw fox gl to repair?
don't know of anything is wrong with it. my dtr might be buying one and people are saying that they are very expensive to repair just in general.

A: What is wrong with it? The type of repair needed will effect the cost greatly!

Q: 89 VW Fox Differetial pressure regulator faulty??
My 89 Fox runs very badly when the engine is cold, and /or warming up, but runs ok but not great when it is hot. When I disconnect the electrical connector from the differential pressure regulator the problem goes away, both with a cold or hot engine. O2 sensor seems to be OK. What would cause these symptoms? Tried different regulator, no change in symptoms.

A: Here are some links that you may find useful! I did notice a cold start injector on some of these. have you checked that? It tells how to change it in the auto zone link below! Do you have a repair manual for the Fox? some thoughts: Catalytic converter? blown head gasket? Clogged fuel filter? Bad spark plug? even a new one can be bad! old fuel? vacuum leak?

Q: 87 VW fox collecting water?
Looking to purchase an 87 fox that was driven by a friends dad that no longer has his license for $400. The car has only had 2 senior citizen owners. Odometer is broken at 139,xxx. Tags are good to 9/09. Recently water has been collecting in the front floor boards. It has been raining here like crazy (portland, or). Friend has removed the water but he has seen some accumulate again (still raining). No seals seem loose or broken. There is a hairline crack in the windshield. Any clues as to what is up with the water? No sunroof. Or am I going to pay $400 for a big headache? Also any tips on the broken ODO? Thanks for your time!

A: Since you are paying @ $400 dollars for a [junker]... Just drill or make a couple of small weepholes in the floorboards to let the water drain on out.. onto the ground so it does not accumulate. Basically the car is not worth fixing the leaks. Does this help any?

Q: What does it mean when a car stalls when removing the oil cap while it's running?
I was checking out an older VW Fox and when i took the oil cap off while the car was running... it lost compression very fast and was about to stall. Is it a problem with the head gasket? please let me know! The car ran fine but right when I took off the oil cap, the car began to stall. Is it a head gasket problem? He said the car used about a quart between oil changes. It was a 1991 VW Fox,

A: It means that the fuel system is working as advertised. By removing the oil cap you have introduced a large air leak in a closed PCV system. Some systems are that sensitive.BMW, for example, will do the same thing if tuned properly. If there is a problem with the engine,it would be that it is running on the lean side.

Q: Which car is better?? A 1988 Volkswagen Fox?? Or a 1986 Volkswagen Jetta??
I have the choice of getting one of these two cars for my first car.. But I can't decide which one is better!!! The 88 VW Fox is a 4-speed and the 86 VW Jetta is a 5-speed... I don't really care about the interior condition because I can fix all that... I just care about the Performance part of it.. Which car do you think that I can get better performance out of?? I really want to practice drifting..... They both have over 100,000 miles on them... But it's my first car and I don't really care.. So which do you think is better?? Thanks!!!

A: both are too old but the jetta is a better car look for 1998s not 1988s
