Q: Where can i find performance parts for my VW beetle?
its a 67 VW beetle 1500cc 4 speed manual. thanks.

A: Go over to www.thesamba.com Possibly the biggest air cooled VW site on the web.

Q: What parts are needed to be purchased when putting in a window regulator in 1973 VW Beetle?

A: Besides the regulator, I would get some door trim fasteners (they like to break when you remove the panel) and some of the short 6mm bolts which hold the regulator on the door frame. Inspect the glass guides and seals because now would be the time to change them. Your vapor barrier often tears when you pull it from the door. You can patch them with packing tape, but new is always better. If you have no grease for the new regulator, get some of that. What shape is the splines on the winder handle? Does the plastic sockets and attach points for the door latch work or are they broken-same with the lock rod. Other than that it's a snap. Be patient when it comes adjustment time for the new regulator. It should run smooth and without binding the glass any where.

Q: How do I attach the trans nose cone wires for my VW Beetle?
There is a wire called the trans nose cone wire that goes from the rear backup lights to the coil and the trans nosecone. How do I install it, what does it attach to, and how do I install the in line fuse block? Will I need one from a VW parts dealer, or can I just buy it at NAPA?

A: Try this. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt1.php TheSamba.com :: Beetle Wiring Diagrams To answer your question. Back up lights take power from the + terminal on the coil. + may be labeled 15. on a Bosche blue coil, if you can't make it out it will be the one that doesn't have the green wire going to the distributor. Unless you have a Pertronix type points elimination kit. Hook a wire to the + coil, put an inline fuse in it, Prolly 8-10 amp. Run that wire, and another right along with it, where it won't chafe thru and short, thru the engine tin on the left hand side and up to the front left side of the nose cone. Make sure the 2 wires can be secured away from hot or whirling parts. Better too long than too short. Next put some quality spade connectors on both wires at the tranny end and plug em into the back up light switch. Back in the engine compartment put another spade connector on one wire and plug it into the coil + or 15. Now here's the trick find the wires in your wiring loom that run your back up lights. If you check my link you will find a wiring diagram for your Beetle. take a look at the actual tail lite assembly to start your trace. Also look for a lone wire of the correct color with a male end for a spade connector. Plug your other wire into that. If your bulbs and switch are good your back up lights should work now.

Q: Can you buy replacement part for the "swivel" cupholder on a 2003 VW Beetle - or is that only a dealer fix?
We are buying my daughter a 2003 VW Beetle and the swing-out cupholder is broken. Does anyone know where you buy a replacement part or is this only available from a dealer? Thanks! :-)

Q: 2002 VW beetle part(Guard between tire and engine)?
I apologize I dont know the exact name, been looking online at sites like autopartswarehouse.com looking for it, but cant seem to find the part.. Well, out here they use this black goo to fill cracks on asphalt.. My friend parked on some on a hot day, and it stuck to his tire when it started to cool. The "goo" ripped apart a fiberglass/plastic(think its plastic, not sure) guard between the tire and the engine on the left front of the car. There are 2 other plastic guards, it took out the middle one.. Any idea what its called so I can find the prices for replacing it? Its about a 12"x24"(I dont have it with me, but I remember when we took the last bolt off that was holding it on).. Thanks

A: go to any Vw dealership and ask them about the part you need and what its called.it is a very easy

Q: Speed of a 99' VW Beetle?
What would be the best way to increase the speed in my 99' VW Beetle? What parts would up performance now that the new 5 cylinder 150hp new VW Beetles are around I want my baby to get spruced up. I know it is a weird thing to want a speedy bug, but I was wondering if there was even such a thing as performance parts for a '99 Beetle. Thanks in advance =) Any sites with parts would be amazing!!!

A: Unfortunately the 2.5 L is a new engine, so aftermarket parts are as of yet thin on the ground. The best advice I can give you, is to come to the forum below and ask there. Some wonderful beetle owners there, eager to share their knowledge. No spam, or fees but you'll have to register. And there's nothing weird about wanting to soup up your buggy! You'll see there's some amazing ones there, some with upwards of 400 hp. Fun place to hang out and get advice. Hope to see you there :)

Q: How much should a timing belt replacement cost on a 2000 VW Beetle?
I have a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle TDI (turbo diesel) in need of a new timing belt and tensioner. Parts and labor, how much should this maintenance cost me (at a repair shop -- not a VW dealership)?

A: i work for a VW dealer in California, beetles are cramped at the same time you do the timing belt you should also do the water pump because you dont have to repay for labor even at dealer rates with coolant, the belt and water pump this rarely works out at over 550 the tensioner is the single most expensive part not doing the timing belt at every 60k miles for a manual transmission and 40k miles for a automatic can lead to very expensive repairs, if the belt brakes or tensioner fails. i would recommend taking it to the dealer simply because they do this work every day and are familiar with the cam timing and injection pump timing

Q: VW Beetle warranty confusion!!!?
My VW Beetle is still under warranty, do i have to have fitted volkswagan replacement parts when my car is still under warranty? If i do not have standard VW parts fitted will this terminate my warranty?

A: Hello, i work as a warranty administrator at vw. "jetdoc" is completely correct in his answer. For servicing, you can use non-genuine vw parts, as long as you can prove via the service book the car has had full service history, (vw or not) your warranty wil not be affected. The only parts not covered by warranty if you fit non genuine parts will be those non genuine parts. If you fit performance enhancing nongenuine parts to your vehicle, any part affected by that performance part can lose its warranty, no matter how little or greatly it is affected. Email me if you need anything more specific

Q: VW Beetle/Mini Cooper Part 2: Would you rather have, a convertible or a hard top?
Thanks to everyone who answered my previous question regarding the VW Beetle and the Mini Cooper. Now, if y'all would be so kind as to answer another quick question about these cars: convertible or hard top? ;-) Thanks!

A: I've had convertibles, a mustang and a cabriolet, and I will never do that again. I prefer hard tops. Lesson learned.
