Q: i bought a used 2000 vw beetle. a blue light came on where radiator light is but its blue and not red.?
what is the difference in the the light from when it's red and when it's blue?

A: When it is blue its heating up so take it easy, it will come on every time you start your car for the first 5 mins or so, when its red its over heating, you need to make sure there is no leak in the radiator and you should take it to someone to have it seen to as it shouldnt be over heating. Enjoy your beetle, I miss mine so much.

Q: Do I have to Use High Octane In my 2000 VW Beetle?
I just bought a used 2000 VW Beetle, Turbo! My husband says I have to buy the High octane gas "Supreame" and it just cost so much more. I know men tend to exagerite when it comes to cars....I don't want to do an DAMAGE to my bug. Is it going to do any damamge to my bug to put Mid grade Fule in it????

A: I guess yes, that'w what VW recommend ... Octane 98. The engine performs best with high octane fuel. No, using a mid grade fuel will not damage the engine. Although, there will be a slight reduction in the performance. You will notice this if you are a street racer or have to run away from the cops everytime you rob a bank!

Q: VW 05' USED BEETLE Problems.?
i purchased this car in mid October, not even before the 30 days i had problems with one of the Power Windows and the Trunk wouldn't Shut Properly, one of the Tail Lights and a few other pieces that were falling off,no mats, and not Manual, i took it in and supposedly they had fix the problem,in December i Noticed the Window they had fixed was A Bit Loose and the Trunk was still in no Conditions of Closing , my CD Receiver doesn't work at all, same month i got pulled over because my Tail Light wasn't Functioning at all,and in This Month My Trunk Finally the bar Broke and i'm getting a message on my screen that says EPC. I took it in to the Dealer and they said i had gone over the Limited warranty Miles and they only Fixed My Window and it's still in no perfect Condition.1st time i took it in they had broke My seat and they don't even want to repair that. I have no clue what to do.it has Manufacturers Warranty? it have a lil' over 28'000 Miles and it's an O5' what should i do?

A: Sue the dealer for the things which were faulty when you got the car. When buying a car if you do not have the practical experience to examine the car you ought to enlist the services of someone or an organisation that does have. On the positive side, most of these faults can be fixed very easily.

Q: Used VW bug mileage?
I'm looking to buy a used VW beetle and have found quite a few, but I'm not sure how many miles are too many miles on this kind of car. I don't want to purchase one with 90,000 if it starts having problems around 100

A: I belong to a couple New Beetle clubs. Some of the members have 150-200+ thousand miles. Its all a matter of maintanence. It is a piece of machinery, so you will have parts that from time to time need replacing. Overall, its a fun car. Take care of it, and it will care of you. Happy Bugging!

Q: Is VW Beetle GLX a good used car?
Anyone with any experience with this car know if this is a good buy. I'm considering 1999 - 2002 model year GLX turbo. I've read mixed reiviews for this car. I've researched several other cars for a few months and this one heads the list so far. I definately want a small 2 door coupe that's reasonably fast (thus the GLX), that is not a major insurance policy liability, that has very distinctive styling, that gets good gas mileage, and is priced right. Already own a SUV and family sedan. This would be transportation to and from work and maybe a little weekend fun here and there. Does this vehicle fit the bill?

A: I have a used GLS Beetle and I have to say it's not worth getting. For the first year I have had trouble with it couple of times so I had to get it to the mechanic to get it fixed. Now it's running fine but for how long I don't know, I haven't had it for more than two years. I don't recommend a used VW because it's really pricey to fix and most mechanics don't know how to fix German cars. I would recommand Japanese cars like Toyota and Hondas. They are considered very reliable and doesn't cost much (cheaper than the VW Beetle)

Q: What octane petrol/gas should I use for a 1977 VW Beetle?
Is it true that on the owners manual it says 91 RON? Or did they use a different rating system before and now 91 back then means 87 in today's measuring scale?

A: 87 octane is recommended. the91 ron is by a different and outdated rating method

Q: What kind of oil to use on a 99 VW Beetle?
My car has a slow oil leak and I need to know what kind of oil to put into it. I bought my car with no instruction manual, whoops! Thanks for your help!

A: Synthetic oil.
