Q: Approx. how much does it cost to replace a 2008 VW Beetle rear fender?
I cracked someones and want to make sure they're not going to rip me off if I offer to pay for it. If you know how much it would be for labor to fix too, that would be great. Not looking for anything very specific, more like a range. The crack is about 3 inches long on the rear passenger side.
A: If there is actual damage done to the rear quarter panel and can not be fixed by dent removal then it could be quite costly. To replace an entire quarter panel could cost upwards of $1500 depending on the body shop.
If it's a cracked bumper that you're talking about then it will most likely be replaced which would cost around $500 plus paint and the labor for prep and installation.
Really without being able to see the direct damage that was done it's hard to tell you, but the cost could be anywhere from $500 for dent removal and repaint to $2500 having a new quarter panel installed and painted (requires a lot of labor cutting out the old panel and welding in the new one).
Q: Know where I can get a 2008 VW New Beetle Skid Plate?
I think I might've broken the skid plate off of my car, I'm not sure. It's dragging a bit, and I tried popping it back in place, but I don't think it will hold for very long. I'm not actually sure it's BROKEN-broken, or maybe the screws just popped off or something... (Whyyyy did they make those plastic, anyway?) I am curious where I can go to get a new one if it is broken, save from going back to the dealers, where I hear they charge an arm and a leg for a replacement.
Also, does anyone have any pictures on how it's SUPPOSED to look, attached to the car for comparison?
A: Its unlikely you will get one anywhere else other than a dealers.
Its still a new car and the part would not be popular enough for someone to make a aftermarket type one.
Your best option is to remove the panel before you damage it any further. A body shop may be able to repair it with glue, bondo or something like that. If you or someone you know is good working with fiberglass, they could probably help you fix it cheaply enough.
It would be a good idea to order new screws or clips from the dealer though, most times they are plastic and when you remove them, they are easy to damage, or they are broken.
It should be a easy fix.
Q: New beetle convertible?
Well Im finally getting my 2008 convertible beetle next week. I was looking at jeeps first but said no way to those gas prices. I drive a jetta now and love it so I know how the vw's are. Do all you beetle convertible owners love your car or what? I went with the se in the gecko green with cream top and inside. Im actually leasing it for three years. ( I always lease) I know not many people like that color but I absolutely love it.(yeah Im a guy and people say its a girly car but thats nonsense to me) Well it will be a fun summer for sure. Let me know how you like yours????????? Peace!
A: I currently work at a VW dealership, and I must admit, the Bettle Convertible is wonderful. It handles fabulously, the interior is roomy and comfortable. I would have nothing bad to say about that car.
As far as the whole "girly car" crap, pssh! Whatever! I would drive that car everyday if I could.
Q: Overall, which is a better car?
An original air cooled VW Beetle or a new 2008 Smart Car Fortwo with no A/C or power steering/windows/door locks.
Mechanically, long term durability, and the driving fun factor.
A: Depends on what year VW you're talking about. Mechanically, the VW will be probably easier and cheaper to maintain, but I doubt the VW has a/c or power anything either. But the VW will hold its value better. Go with the Fortwo and its warrantee if you want nice to drive and a warantee.
Q: Is the mitsubishi eclipse a girl's car?
I'm a male, 18 years old and Im looking for a new car in my price range and I liked the look of the Mitsubishi eclipse and the eclipse spyder, both the 2008 models. Since the both look nearly the same, other than the spider being a convertable, I thought I would ask the question for both models. My friend says that it looks like a girl's car but in all the commercials they have a guy driving the car. I think the only girls car is a VW beetle but other than I think all cars are pretty unisex (Unless its pink cause no straight guy is going to want to drive a pink car). What do you, both ladies and dudes, think?
A: lol, well i have an eclipse right now, the older one though and I use to love the car. Now it's getting a little old and my gf totally thinks it is a girls car. lol, but overall, it's a pretty good car. btw im also 18 but if you can afford the 2008 eclipse, if i was you, i'd get a used mitsubishi lancer evo VIII or IX. Best car ever!!! Im getting the evo IX in the next few weeks, got to test drive it this morning and my god does that car hauls a$$!!
Hope that helps!
Q: 2008 VW Beetle - 50/50 on reviews and consumer reports.?
Wife and I thinking of getting the VW Beetle and getting 50/50 on the reviews of the car. We have been Nissan/Acura folks for over a decade with much luck. The styling of the beetle is unique and most other cars look the same. Just can't get by the reviews. Either people love it or it is a lemon. Looking for some thoughts from our Yahoo Answers Friends.........
A: It's a lovable lemon. If styling is more important to you than top shelf reliability, then by all means buy the bug. They aren't horrible clunkers, they just aren't as reliable as the top cars in it's class. They are still fun cars, with reasonable performance and undeniable "cuteness". It won't be in the shop every other week, if that is your fear. It will be in more than a comparable Honda or Toyota.
