Q: VW Beetle Convertible TURBO Discontinued for 2006?
I'm looking to buy a convertible VW New Beetle, either a 2005 or 2006. I want the Turbo model for more power. But every time I search listing or articles I don't see a turbo model for 2006 and later. Is this because turbo became standard in 2006? What car is more powerful, a 2005 Turbo VW Beetle or a 2006 VW Beetle. I'm so confused...
A: There is a new non turbo motor called the 2.5 FSI in 2006 models. A way more realible motor, with quite a bit of zip. I'm going to say "Faster" than a stock old turbo motor. You probably want to stay away from a 2005, and go with the new technology. There are computer software flashes that can be done to the car to make it even faster.
Giac and APR are two of the leaders. You have to find someone in your area that does this for 2006 models. Flashing the the computer is around 400 dollars.
Q: Where is the oil filter on my 2006 vw beetle,1.9l diesel, located?
I was told it could be changed without getting under the bug,but I haven't been able to locate it. Probably have looked right at it and just did not recognize it. Any help appreciated. Thanks
A: yes, you looked right at it and missed it. it is under the hood.
open the hood, take the engine cover off... that piece of plastic that's over the motor.
there, slightly left of center on the front side of the motor is a canister. unscrew the top. lift out the canister. there should be two new seals in the box. one small one goes on the bottom of the tip of the lid. the other one goes at the top of the threads on the lid you screwed off. MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE OLD ONES FIRST. i had someone neglect to do that once, which can cause cataclysmic failure if not corrected.
Q: 2006 VW beetle problems staying started after cold weather?
We recently had a lot of snow and a freeze in the area, and right away the bug started having a hard time staying started, the engine starts and then begins to idle and dies after less that 5 seconds, the first few timea she fired up after several (20...) tries at starting it, then drove fine and restarted on the first try to come home. She sat in the driveway for another few days and now no matter now many tries the same thing keeps happening, starting and dieing. Is it just the cold weather or have we moved on to a bigger problem? and how do I fix it?
A: First your car is still under warranty. Since it is cold water cold of got into the fuel filter and froze. Your car is under warranty so the dealership should fix it for you for free.
Q: Can I put a lift kit on my VW Beetle?
I wanna lift my 2006 VW Beetle about 3" and put some bigger Nobie tires on it, and a Grill guard. Do you think this is possible and where could I go to get the best information? Im getting a second job so that I can pay for it because I know it will cost allot but also if you know about how much let me know.
Thanks =D
I know its weird, but its what I want I dont want a girly car I just want to know if it can be done, please dont give me hell for it. Plus this blond girl has the exact same color and even convertable as me and I cant stand it, so I wanna change it.
A: Sure you can. Most any fabrication shop would be happy to do it for you for a price. I also hear that www.metalnerd.com offers a kit. I checked their website and didn't see it right away, but it couldn't hurt to call and ask them. Also, it looks like this may work for you as well.

And to the guy who said that the old style baja bugs were only 1964 and down, that is not true. I happen to own a 1966 Baja. If you get a chance, stop by over at www.azbaja.com. I am sure that Darryl or one of the guys knows someone who sells a lift kit for the new beetles.
Q: I have a 2006 Beetle Convertible does it need a 2 wheel alignment or a 4 wheel alignment?
I was told by VW dealer that it needs a 4 wheel alignment, but tire and wheel place said it only takes a 2 wheel alignment. Rear end is semi-independent suspension.
A: 2 wheel alignments have been obsolete for decades now. You need a four wheel alignment, even if the rear is in specs. Ever see an old car going down the road, its in the lane straight but the car looks crooked going down the road, that is a two wheel alignment. Two wheel sets the front wheels to the centerline of the vehicle where as a four wheel alignment (it's actually five because you are aligning the steering wheel also) is setting the front wheels in relationship to the rears.
A good four wheel alignment will run you between 90-150 dollars.
Q: I want a VW New Beetle but...?
I've been hearing they are horrible cars. I.E: The electrical system is horrid, and replacement costs are astronomical.
[My brother is a triple major in Automotive Aftermarket/Autmotive Mngmnt, and Finance, and I want to take his advice but I'm apprehensive. ]
Does anyone own a VW New Beetle [1998-2006]? If so, do you like it?Are there any problems?

Q: 2006 TDI Beetle for WVO?
I've found someone who can do the conversion, but admits this will be the newest model conversion he's done. I'm curious if anyone else has converted a 2006 VW TDI and have any experience or cautions to share. Thanks!
A: I don't see why converting a newer diesel would be any more difficult than converting an older one. WVO is the most environmentally friendly fuel currently available (see link below for further details), so I say go for it!
Q: Changing oil filter on a VW New Beetle?
How do you remove the oil filter from a 2006 Volkswagen New Beetle? It's a 5 cylander, 2.5 liter.
A: To amplify shelcom's answer: You may have to experiment with various types of oil filter wrenches until you find one that fits and can be used in the clearances around the filter. Fortunately they're cheap, so you don't have to feel bad about building up a collection. Buy a tube of valve-grinding compound and smear some onto the wrench in order to get good traction on the filter. Be sure to put a pan on the ground under the engine to catch any oil that dribbles down when you remove the filter.
Q: Car vandalized, should I take it to the dealer for repairs?
I have an 2006 VW New Beetle. Someone decided to take a hatchet to it and smash the drivers side window, windshield, put a hole in the drivers side door and smash in the hood.
I have full coverage, so money isn't an issue.
Should I take it to the dealer to get fixed?
My car was actually 1 of 9 in my neighborhood to be messed up.
I already spoke to my insurance and they said I could take it anywhere. I just need to call and tell them where I am going.
A: what did you do to deserve that kind of abuse?!
take it to a authorized repair shop, as your insurance may have specific places. call first.
Q: could anyone please tell me how i can get the vw museum website in the english language please?
