Q: Should I get a 2005 Chevy Cobalt or 2005 VW Beetle?
My mom and i went to a used car place and i wasn't sure which would be a better car for me since i'm only 16
A: Neither.
Get a Honda or Nissan or Toyota
but I would get the Chevy before the VW and my first car was a VW bug that I really liked. VW's reputation has gone south.
Q: 2005 vw beetle?? opinions? PLEASE ANSWER!!!?
whats ur opinion of these? pros and cons please???? (also, getting it fixed isnt an issue price wise because my brothers a mechanic and can fix my car for me)
whats wrong with vws??? german made cars tend to be good. ?
the crash ratings arent that bad actually.
A: VWs are very good cars. They have better performance and style then the competition. The only thing is. Maybe you should consider a bigger car then a Jetta or the new beetle? Because you can get badly hurt in that thing if you got hit by an SUV. Why don't you consider the VW Tiguan or the Tuareg? It is much safer. Don' t you have kids that need your support still? Well if you die in a car wreck then you can't support them. And I'm sure your parents and siblings and cousins would be just devastated. Find something safer. Look at the crash test ratings first before buying.
Q: Which car would you say is the best to buy?
-A 2005 VW Beetle
-A 2005 Ford Mustang
or a small SUV.
Which is the best to buy out of these choices? If none, which car would you recommend?
A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for different cars before buying one, for example here - autoinsurance.noneto.com
Q: Mileage to change vw tdi timing belt?
I have a 2005 vw new beetle tdi with 58000 miles(automatic). What is the recommend mileage for changing the timing belt? What is the average cost of changing the belt? Manual is no where to be found. Thanks for your time and reply.
A: most people say between 80-100k. This is fairly important because the TDI is an interference engine meaning if the belt breaks there is a pretty good chance a valve is gonna make contact with a piston. I think most shops charge 4 hours labor for this and the belt and associated parts will run you around $150
Q: Which VW Beetle should I buy?
I am looking at a Used New Beetle Convertible. I have found the car in the color with the all options I want at 2 car dealerships with almost identical miles and price tags but with one major difference one is a 2005 with a 1.8L Turbo engine the other is a 2006 with a 2.5L Engine? Which one is faster? Which one will cost more to maintain? What exactly is better about a turbo engine? Which one should I get
A: the factory turbo is designed from the bottom up to stand the forces of the high output generated by turbocharging. So if you can keep your foot out of it once in a while, the engine should last a long time. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the turbo it's self. Being fed by exhaust, that sucker get gets HOT. So it needs constant cooling-both by the engine oil that goes thru it and (usually) coolant. That means you need to change your oil religiously. Your air cleaner is vital to correct operation.
The trans is getting extra push everytime the turbo kicks in -ya you can feel it!- so you nee to keep it's lube fresh.
In short, boost will cost you, but then you can't take it (your money) with you!
The turbo will run about a $1000. to rebuild, and it must be there for the car to run right.
Q: need to reset airbag light?
i bought a used 2005 vw beetle and decided to shampoo all the carpets so i removed and unplug both front seats driver and passenger now a light is always on showing airbags. i disconnected the battery no luck anybody else ever had this problem thanks in advance
which airbag just the seat or all airbags don't work
A: Yeah coz that is the seat position sensor for the smart air bag and now you will have to go to the VW dealer to have the computer reset. Right now your air bags will not work, that is all the light means.
Q: Drain plug key?
What does the key to the drain plug lock on a 2005 vw beetle convertible look like? I just purchased the car and I went in to have it serviced, but they couldn't unlock the drain plug. There was a little piece that looked like a metal spark plug in the storage compartment between the front seats. Is that it?
Thanks.
A: Hello
Yes you need to try it first even if it is to eliminate it.
Failing that the drain plug could be really hard to release you do not want to break any threads in removing it.
Best solution is to take it to a VW garage - ok you will pay for the privelage but it may save you money in th long run.
Good luck

Q: 2005 Toyota Matrix vs. New Volkswagen Beetle?
my first car was a 2001 volkswagen beetle. it had about 78,000 miles on it but only lasted 2 months due to motor problems (it would stutter and shake)....however i loooovvveedd this car . i had always wanted a volkswagen since i was a little girl. after being screwed over by the dealership i got it from (not a certified VW dealer which was my biggest mistake in the first place) i traded the volkswagen in for a 2005 toyota matrix. i do like this car but my heart will always be with VW. ok can someone help me weigh the pros and cons of owning a volkswagen (if i were to get one again id get a new one from a certified VW dealer) compared to owning my toyota matrix. i honestly feel like the answer to this question will be obvious but i cant shake the feelings i had for the volkswagen i owned (it was baby blue :-( ...so yea volkswagen beetle vs. toyota matrix...and please no smart remarks or anything. i genuinely want some advice
i have a 20 month old daughter and am a full-time student and part time employee. my main concern when trading in the first VW was my daughters safety. i was terrified of breaking down on the highway somewhere. the toyota matrix is roomier and if something did go wrong with it, i have a valid warranty and the parts wouldnt be super expensive (i hear VW parts are ridiculously expensive)
A: Well, i've owned a matrix,a nd a Jetta, and i have to say i <3 my jetta!
three cars agO? my parents gave me a matrix, and i hated it. It was reliable, but it was a piece of crap. the interior was really cheap, the stereo system was weak, and it honestly felt like you were driving a little kid's toy.
i like VW because the interior is wayy better, the body is better built and the drive is so much more fun.
As of reliability, toyota of course wins.
but here are the pros of a VW:
Safer
Stylish
Fun to drive
Comes base with everything power
built in alarm
cool key
Cons of VW:
unrleliable if you don't do proper matience
its 90 bucks if you lose your key
Q: Any 1997 Geo Tracker owners out there?
I owned a 1997 Geo Tracker but traded in in for a 2005 Diesel VW Beetle....I miss my tracker believe it or not....just curious if other people love their tracker as much as I did....Thanks
A: Maybe you need to place your question in the right category...like under "Geo"
Q: Searching for my friend John in Orange County Mid-Hudson New York?
Sombody outside from Cornwall-on-Hud... Point?Searching for my friend John, need help to find him
Hi to everybody.
I really need help to find a friend of mine named John. He lives in the area around Mid-Hudson (Orange County, Ulster County).
I meet him couple years ago and know he is a techinical worker at Minolta-Konica in New Jersey. In July 2005 he married Simone and they have sweet little twin-girls, age 2. Simone and John moved last year from Newburgh, because they are now the owners of a little house in the area around Mid-Hudson. I did'nt have his last name and his new adress. So I need help to find him and his family. He is a VW-Beetle fan and owner of a Historic VW-Beetle, from 1971-1975 and goes to Historic Auto-shows in Poughkeepsie and Middletown and Bear Mountain.
I hope there is one in the community who can give me any response. I checked yahoo, but I did'nt find him.
Please help me if there is somebody from Orange County, my heart is broken, I miss him so much.

Q: Boy car/girl car?
At a party, a friend asked if it was OK for her to buy a Jeep Wrangler or would guys be turned off because it is a macho car. She was surprised when I told her that Wranglers aren't real trucks, they're girly trucks. This sparked a debate, and most girls at the party thought Wranglers were manly trucks and most men consider them girly cars (surprisingly a few guys did put them in the “real truck” category).
Questions arose about other types of cars, so I thought I’d open this up to a larger audience. For each of the cars below, please classify it as M (manly), G (girly), or N (gender neutral). Also give your gender and home state (I imagine there might be some regional variation).
Jeep Wrangler
PT Cruiser
VW Beetle (new)
Beetle (old)
